What began as a simple brick repair and minor stucco patching quickly became something much more meaningful. Once we opened up the façade, we discovered that nearly 80% of the brick required restoration. During the process, the homeowner saw just how beautiful the original brickwork truly was and asked if we could remove the stucco entirely.

From there, we met with the City of Charleston Board of Architectural Review and researched the property’s history to confirm that the structure was originally exposed brick. After presenting our findings and walking the site with BAR, we received approval to restore the façade to its historic appearance.

This project has been a privilege to take part in. It’s always special when we can help preserve Charleston’s architectural heritage and bring a property back to its original character and charm.
