Inspection stickers move to once every 2 years instead of yearly, beginning January 2024

My preference would have been to completely get rid of state inspection stickers. However this is a step in the right direction.

This will save so much wasted time and energy. It has been shown that inspection stickers make no significant differences in crashes and wrecks. Hopefully at some point we can do away with them completely, just as several other states have.

***so you don’t have to read. Inspections will raise in price to $19. This is a savings. They are currently $14.25. Which means for 2 years of inspections stickers you pay $28.50. You will now pay $19. $3 did go to the state police every year. It now will be $6 out of that $19. Not only will you be saving $9.50, you will be saving all the time it takes to get one.

ARTICLE 16. INSPECTION OF VEHICLES.
§17C-16-4. Superintendent of the West Virginia State Police to require periodic inspection;
acceptance of certificate of inspection from another state; suspension of registration of unsafe vehicles.
(a) The Superintendent of the West Virginia State Police shall require that every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer registered in this state be inspected once every two years and that an official certificate of inspection and approval be obtained for each vehicle: Provided, That the amendments made to this subsection during the 2023 regular session of the Legislature shall become effective on January 1, 2024.
