Have you met FIRE CHIEF Arborvitae? Got color in your landscape? Message me for sourcing of amazing plant materials you can't live without 🌿🌳🪴🌲Zones 5 - 9, rounded & grows 3 - 5ft tall and wide, full sun: Thuja occidentalis 'Congabe"

03/02/2026

If you’re in zones 5-9, the warmer days ahead mean it’s time to get ahead of Spring growth. A little effort now makes a big difference later. Here are 3 simple things you can do this month:

🌿 clean + cut back: remove winter debris and cut back ornamental grasses and perennials before fresh growth takes off

🌱 edge + mulch: redefine bed lines and apply a fresh layer of mulch (remember! no mulch volcanoes)

✂️prune with purpose: prune Summer blooming shrubs now but wait on Spring bloomers until after they flower

And if you’re ready for a personal, beautiful and truly unique landscape plan, ✨message me and let’s start designing your landscape! 🌿

Not sure what’s popping up in your yard? Message me and let’s figure it out before it takes over. 🌿

If you’re starting to notice tiny weeds popping up in February, there’s a good chance you’re looking at Hairy Bittercress.

Scientific name: Cardamine hirsuta

This cool-season annual loves late winter and early spring. And here’s the kicker — once those little seed pods mature, they explode and scatter seeds everywhere (yes, really). That’s how it spreads so quickly.

The key? Early identification and early action.

Meet Velvet Viking® Japanese Maple
Scientific name: Acer palmatum ‘Monfrick’

Don’t let its size fool you. This stunning dwarf tree reaches only about 3 feet tall in 10 years — but it absolutely packs a punch. Its deeply cut, burgundy-red leaves flutter like a million tiny butterflies in the slightest breeze, bringing movement and rich color to the landscape.

Perfect for smaller spaces, foundation plantings, or as a focal point where you want big impact without big scale.

Meet #3 in our 5 Fabulous Plant Series: Black Pearl Coral Bell. Scientific name: Heuchera ‘Black Pearl’

Who says black doesn’t belong in the landscape? Beyond mulch, adding deep, dramatic foliage like this can completely transform a space. The glossy, almost jet-black leaves create bold contrast and make neighboring plants pop.

And imagine this beauty planted next to salmon-colored geraniums… 😍 The contrast would be absolutely stunning.
