Are you a handy person that struggles with power tools that always seem to break? Here’s a little tip: Instead of throwing away that expensive piece of equipment, do a little troubleshooting. Most of the time you can Google search a parts diagram and order what you need at a fraction of the cost of tool replacement. Check the pics below. My expensive Bosch router started losing power. A little internet search and I was able to order new brushes for the motor. You can see how worn the old ones were compared to new. 15 mins and I was back in business!!!! Big thanks to my wife who unknowingly let me use her dining room table as a workbench!

Powder room renovation almost complete. Just a few minor touch ups left! Added bead-board, trim, and (my first attempt) at wallpaper. Gotta say, I think I’m a wallpaper fan now. Wallpaper will be going up in my personal powder room very soon!

Some holiday projects wrapped up right before Christmas! 115 square foot of drop ceiling installation. A nice way to finish a crawlspace/basement ceiling where you still need access to plumbing and electrical. Sure beats cutting out drywall!

Let’s talk about wood rot…. Charleston homeowners, if you own a house that’s more than 5 years old, you probably have wood rot. Check your door jabs, window sills, etc. it’s inevitable. It’s Charleston. It’s wet! If you plan on selling your house, it’s a great idea to get this squared away before the buyer does a home inspection. Usually the wood rot goes on on the CL-100 and then your sale is contingent on getting this repaired. Contractors know this! Now I’m not saying that every contractor would leverage this against you, but I’ve been victim of thay exact senario. $2500 in “repairs” that were performed poorly or not at all…Keep your options on contractors open by squaring wood rot away before you’re forced into an anxiety generating deadline! Pic are of a door jamb repair that I just finished up.

This project was completed a few years ago as kind of an odd job (prior to considering a more permanent move to home improvement.) Client wanted to improve the flooring in their rental property. Old floor was removed and this vinyl click and lock style was installed. This provided the client with a beautiful floor yet still cost effective towards his budget.

The most recent project was a complete renovation of this dining room. We wanted to get away from the traditional colonial style of trim in favor of something a little more modern. Popcorn ceiling was removed and recessed lighting added The new tray style crown molding defiantly gives off a feeling of increased ceiling height. Board and batten were incorporated at about a 14” gap to give the room just a touch of a traditional feel. The light fixture was picked out by my wife who has years of experience and education in design. (Life is definitely easier when you can pick the brain of an expert designer!)
