We're thrilled to announce that our ALDI Corporate Campus Improvement Project has won the Design-Build Institute of America(DBIA) National Award of Merit in the Office Buildings category! 🏆✨ This achievement puts us in the running for the National Award of Excellence, to be unveiled at the DBIA conference this November.

From the outset, ALDI USA articulated priorities that included fostering collaboration across a rapidly expanding organization and creating a compelling workplace. Our fully integrated Design-Build team translated those goals into a cohesive, campus-wide solution for ALDI that balanced architectural quality, operational efficiency, and enhanced employee experience.

Design and construction of a visionary campus amenities building - bringing the total square footage to 256,000

Some of the things we're proudest to build don't require a set of plans.
Once a year, our team fills a truck with school shirts and classroom supplies and heads to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' Starmount Academy of Excellence.

Then something pretty great happens.
Teachers get a few more of the things they need.
Students get a little extra excitement about the school year.
And our team gets to spend a day doing something positive in the community.
Oh, and there may have been ice cream.

We spend most of our time designing and building facilities, but days like this remind us that building community matters, too.

This summer has flown by, and our interns have been making the most of every opportunity.

Our construction management interns have been supporting projects across the country, gaining hands-on experience, learning from industry experts, and contributing to meaningful work from day one. Along the way, they've strengthened their technical skills, expanded their professional networks, and grown both personally and professionally.

Whether they're collaborating with project teams in the field or supporting our office crew, they're gaining firsthand insight into what it takes to bring complex Design-Build projects to life.

The countdown to 'Fill the Truck' is on!

This week we're preparing classroom supplies for our annual 'Fill the Truck' event, which benefits CMS' Starmount Academy of Excellence. Our goal is to help local teachers and students start the school year with essential items for school success.

On August 20, our Charlotte team will come together to load up trucks, deliver supplies to Starmount's teachers, and hand out school T-shirts to every student during the Open House.

There are few moments more rewarding than seeing a client's vision become a place where their business can grow, innovate and reach new heights.

What begins as an idea, shaped through planning, design and construction, ultimately becomes something much bigger than a building. It becomes the foundation for what's next.

Designed and built by A M King, Cheney Brothers, Inc. Headquarters’ 386,047-sf Florence, SC distribution facility will support the company’s continued growth while creating 350 new jobs. During the grand opening celebration, Mike Turner, the facility's president, shared that their team recently shipped its one millionth case from the new building — a remarkable milestone that speaks to the impact the facility is already having.

The event also featured remarks from Cheney Brothers Chairman & CEO Byron Russell, SC Governor Henry McMaster, Florence County Economic Development Partnership CEO Gregg Robinson, and City of Florence Mayor Lethonia Barnes, all recognizing the investment's significance for both the company and the community.

Perhaps the most fitting words came at the close of the ceremony: "We're not just opening a building. We're opening the next chapter of Cheney Brothers and Performance Food Group"

Congratulations to the entire Cheney Brothers team on this exciting achievement!

Our Greenville team broke records last week at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas, with our 11-person meal team feeding a whopping 60 guests!

They prepared and served a chicken and beef taco/nacho bar with all the fixings, cilantro rice, queso, and homemade peach cobbler with ice cream. Talk about the ultimate summer meal!

It's an honor to support RMHC's mission of keeping families close and to provide a warm, home-cooked meal during tough times. Thank you to all of our Guest Chefs for making this a night to remember.

Sometimes the best way to move a project forward is to step away from it for a few minutes. Taking a break to relax and enjoy a treat together gave us the perfect chance to hit pause, bond as employee-owners, and return to our desks with a fresh perspective.

Last week, Cheney Brothers, Inc. Headquarters celebrated the grand opening of its new 386,047-square-foot distribution facility in Florence, SC.

The company’s first facility in South Carolina strengthens Cheney Brothers’ presence in the Southeast and enhances service across the Carolinas and neighboring markets.

The facility, designed and built by A M King, combines dry, cooler, and freezer storage with dedicated temperature zones for a variety of product types, along with the largest test kitchen developed by Cheney Brothers to date. The project also incorporates infrastructure for future expansion and a robotic forklift battery exchange system that enhances productivity and safety.

The celebration brought together company leaders, employees, project partners, and state officials, including Governor Henry McMaster, to mark this important milestone.

We're proud to have partnered with Cheney Brothers on a facility designed to support its next phase of growth.

Our Greenville team returned to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas as Guest Chefs!

They cooked up and served sloppy joe cups, veggies with dip, fruit, broccoli salad, and a delicious lemon blueberry dump cake for dessert!

It’s an honor to support such a meaningful mission. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and made the night a success.
