Honestly, one of the best parts about working in our local community is that every service call comes with a new house, new people, and sometimes a four-legged supervisor making sure we’re doing the job right.

We’ve been around here for a little while now, but we realized a lot of you probably still don’t know much about the two guys behind Air Buds Heating & Cooling.

We’re Tyler and Zack. We’re business partners, friends, and two guys who genuinely wanted to build an HVAC company a little differently.

Our backgrounds in the military and law enforcement taught us a lot about responsibility, integrity, and doing what you say you’re going to do. Those are things we’ve tried to carry directly into Air Buds.

For us, that means when we walk into someone’s home, our first thought isn’t “How do we sell them a new system?”

It’s “What does this family actually need?”

Sometimes that’s a replacement. Sometimes it’s a repair, a cleaning, or simply taking the time to figure out what’s really going on. We’d much rather earn someone’s trust for the next 10 years than make the biggest sale we can today.

And then there are the dogs. 😂🐶

If you’ve ever wondered where Air Buds came from, we wanted a name that reflected the kind of company we hoped to build: friendly, loyal, dependable, and always happy to see you. The dogs in our branding are very much real and part of the Air Buds family too.

We’re still growing, meeting people, and getting our name out there throughout Charlotte and the surrounding communities. That’s actually one of our favorite parts of owning a local business.

So if you see the Air Buds name pop up around town, now you know a little more about the people behind it.

Tired of HVAC memberships that feel like another monthly bill? 😅

We do ours a little differently.

Instead of charging you every month, our maintenance plan is one simple annual fee and includes two full seasonal visits each year, one in the spring and one in the fall.

We just never loved the idea of making homeowners feel locked into another monthly payment. We’d rather keep it simple, stay on top of the system, and help catch problems before they turn into expensive repairs.

☀️ Spring Cooling Visit

* Full outdoor coil cleaning
* Electrical component testing
* Capacitor, contactor & fan motor checks
* Blower motor inspection
* Condensate drain line clearing
* Check for biological growth in the ductwork

❄️ Fall Heating Visit

For gas furnaces, we check things like the flame sensor, igniter, gas pressure, blower motor, and heat exchanger.

For heat pumps, we perform the same kind of electrical, safety, component, and refrigerant checks we do in the spring.

* Check the temperature difference between return and supply air
* Install your replacement air filters at no extra charge
* Make sure your thermostat is reading correctly
* Test zone dampers if your home has a zoned system

For us, the whole point of the membership is pretty simple…take care of the system before something goes wrong, make maintenance easy, and give homeowners one less thing to worry about.

Meet Walter. 🐶

This is actually our rescue dog. We got him after we started Airbuds, so he didn’t make it into the logo, but he’s definitely part of the crew!

Walter is 7, and we adopted him after his previous family could no longer care for him. He is seriously the sweetest dog. He loves to cuddle, follows me pretty much everywhere, and has become my little shadow.

Every morning when I’m getting ready to head out for HVAC calls, Walter is convinced he should be coming too. He’ll follow me around like, “Alright, where are WE going today?”

He’s tried to talk his way into a few work trips, but I haven’t given in yet. 😂

For now, he’ll just keep doing what he does best… which is following me everywhere and making it very hard to leave for work in the morning. Lol.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐂 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐬, “𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥… 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤.” 😂

Especially when it’s 90+ degrees outside and your house is already heating up.

That’s why we try to keep our vans stocked with the tools, equipment, and common parts we might need on a service call.

Obviously, we can’t carry everything back here. Lol. But the goal is to show up prepared, figure out what’s actually wrong, and when we can, get it taken care of right then and there.

Because when your house is hot, you don’t care how organized my van is.

You just want your AC working again. 😄

And that’s what we’re there for.

Meet Kilo, one of the OG Air Buds.

Yep, this handsome guy is actually one of the dogs you see in our logo.

Kilo is Tyler’s dog, and when we were putting Air Buds together, it just made sense to have our dogs be part of it.

We’re both big dog guys, obviously, but it goes a little deeper than that.

Dogs are loyal. They’re dependable. They look out for their people. And they don’t make things more complicated than they need to be.

Honestly… not a bad way to run an HVAC business either. 😂

We want our customers to know that when they call us, we’re going to show up, give them a straight answer, and only recommend what their system actually needs.

So Kilo isn’t just hanging out in the work van looking handsome. He’s part of the reason Air Buds looks like Air Buds.

Kilo only makes up half the logo, though. We’ll introduce you guys to Shirley next. 😁

One call down, tools back in the van, quick drink of water, check the next address… and we’re off again.

That’s pretty much what a normal summer day looks like for me.

Some calls are quick fixes and some take a little more head scratching. Lol. Some have me sweating in an attic wondering why I chose a career that gets REALLY busy when it’s 90 degrees outside. 😂

But, I genuinely love what I do.

There’s something really satisfying about showing up to a house where someone’s stressed because their AC isn’t working, figuring out what’s actually wrong, and leaving knowing their home is comfortable again.

Then I pack everything back into this van and head over to help the next Charlotte homeowner.

And somewhere in between all of that, there’s usually a dog I have to say hi to. Obviously. 🐶

Wouldn’t trade it.

Most people have no idea what a capacitor is… until it goes bad. 😅

Think of a capacitor like a jump-start for your AC.

It gives your system the boost it needs to get the fan and compressor running.

When it starts to fail, you might notice:

-Warm air
-A humming noise
-Your AC won’t start

The good news? It’s a common repair, and catching it early can help keep bigger problems from happening.

Just because your AC isn’t working doesn’t always mean you need a whole new system. Sometimes it’s a small part like this.

You guys usually see the smiling photos at the end of the job… you don’t always see what happens before them. 😂

Some days start early and end whenever the last house is cool again.

There are hot attics that feel like ovens, tight spaces that aren’t exactly fun to squeeze into, sweaty shirts before lunch, and plenty of time spent tracking down the real problem instead of guessing.

Then there are the calls where someone’s AC has completely quit.

It’s 90+ degrees outside, the house keeps getting hotter, and the homeowner just wants to know, “Can you fix it?”

That’s where we get to work. We troubleshoot, find the actual problem, and get their home comfortable again.

The days can be long, but seeing the relief on a homeowner’s face when the cold air starts flowing again makes every bit of it worth it.

And every now and then… I get to make a new four-legged friend too. 🐶

Every morning looks a little different, but one thing never changes… I’m always looking forward to helping people get comfortable in their homes again.

When it’s pushing 90+ degrees outside, a broken AC isn’t just an inconvenience. It’s beyond miserable. 🥵

Knowing we get to help take that stress off someone’s shoulders is one of the best parts of the job.

And if we get greeted by a few four-legged supervisors along the way… well, that’s just a bonus. 🐶😂

We’re grateful for every homeowner in Charlotte and the surrounding areas who trusts us with their HVAC system. We don’t take that trust for granted, and we’ll keep showing up every day ready to help however we can.
