First of Many: Installing a Fused Disconnect

Every day on the job is a chance to learn something new.
Right now, the team is installing three 30 amp fused disconnects, feeding them off the normal bus duct to power temporary AC units, one per floor to keep the space cool.
This is Josh’s first time helping install a fused disconnect, getting hands-on experience with how power is safely distributed on a jobsite.
We’re proud to see him stepping up and learning in the field.

Alumni Hall Project Update
Work is moving forward across Levels 1 and 2 with prefab conduit rack installation and ongoing rough-in as walls take shape. We’re advancing exterior electrical for lighting, power, life safety, and security systems while completing key components of the building’s lightning protection system.
Next up, we’ll wrap Level 1 racks, push ahead on Level 2, and start underground electrical in the Tent Garden and north parking areas.
Strong coordination, steady ex*****on, and quality work across the board. Proud of the team driving this progress.

First of Many: Learning to Read Blueprints
Every expert starts somewhere, and for Keven, that journey is just getting started.
He began with demo work, learning how circuits power different systems. Hands-on experience with fire alarm work and temporary power showed him how important electrical is on every jobsite.
Now he’s learning to read blueprints. “It was kind of hard at first, but Greg and Tommy showed me how to break it down. It comes down to measurements and sometimes adjusting them when something is in the way. You just have to make it work safely.”
He’s still working on power plans like receptacles and switches, but he’s putting in the effort every day.

UVA Alumni Hall Project Update
Work is moving along as we install prefab overhead racks on the first and second floors. On Level 1, block walls are being roughed in for the electrical and mechanical spaces. We’re also roughing in exterior wall lighting on the southwest corner of the building and trenching to install conduit for new exterior pole lights along the north side of the site.
Coming up, we’ll begin roughing in stud walls as they’re erected and start building out the electrical rooms, including installing panel cans, troughs, and tying in conduits. We appreciate all of the hard work from our team as the project moves forward!
