Sometimes, seeing someone else take that first step gives you the courage to take your own.
For Ashley Davis, it started with a JATC commercial featuring a woman in the electrical trade. Ashley needed a career change, and seeing that woman made her think, “Well, if she can do it, I can do it.”
With encouragement from her brother, who is also an electrician, she went to the JATC and filled out an application. That decision started a whole new chapter.
Today, Ashley is a fourth-year apprentice at the Nashville JATC and has been part of the Adman team for nearly three years. Now, she’s taking another big step: learning to become an estimator.
When Middle Tennessee Project Manager Owen Lindaman asked whether she would consider moving into the office, Ashley took some time to think it over. With his encouragement, she decided to give it a shot.
Her schedule these days says a lot about her determination. On Mondays and Fridays, she travels to our Chattanooga office to train with our estimating team. Tuesday through Thursday, she works in our Nashville office. She’s also continuing her apprenticeship classes two evenings a week, all while raising two beautiful daughters.
When asked what she would tell someone considering the apprenticeship, Ashley was honest. The work is hard, and school takes commitment. But for someone willing to work hard and keep learning, she believes joining the IBEW is 100% worth it.
She also shared what has helped her along the way at Adman: people who push her to grow, want to see her succeed, and are always there when she needs help. To Ashley, that feels like family.
Ashley, thank you for the effort you put in every day and the courage it takes to keep trying something new. You’re showing your daughters, and other women considering this trade, what’s possible. We’re proud to have you on our team and excited to see where this next chapter takes you.
