⚠️⚠️ATTN: Cherokee water system Customers⚠️⚠️
Customers experienced a brief water outage due to maintenance repairing a leaking water line requiring the water main to be shut down. This water line repair caused little to no water. This is for customers on ROSALIE LEWIS RD.

The Cherokee water system on Rosalie Lewis rd was shut down on 08/30/2026 for repairs. This led to a loss of pressure in the distribution system, which may cause backpressure, backsiphonage, or a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks, or joints in the distribution system that are common in all water systems.
This advisory will last up to 48 hours or until a notice has been given that it has been lifted. During a boil water Residents in affected areas should only ingest tap water after it’s been boiled for one minute or use bottled water. Only boiled tap water should be used for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, watering pets or preparing food and infant formula.
Samples will be collected from multiple locations within the affected system and will be analyzed for any bacteria. We will monitor the presence of adequate disinfectant, residual, and maintenance of consistent pressure throughout the system.

September 14-18 is shut-off week for accounts that are past due. If you think your account may be at risk, please make a payment as soon as possible to avoid interruption of service.

SMOKE TESTING SEWER LINES
The Cherokee Water & Sewer will be conducting a smoke test survey in your area beginning August 20,2026 and will be ONGOING UNTIL COMPLETION.

The crews will be testing Yellowhill Road ( which includes the Boys Club garage, Ray Kinsland building,Boys Club Heavy Equipment rd, Smith rd, Biello rd, Wahneetah rd, to 895 Yellowhill Rd )

A smoke test survey will assist our inspection crews in locating breaks and defects in our sewer system. Smoke will be introduced into a manhole and forced down the sewer lines with the use of an air blower. Smoke will escape from the system at any point where there is an open break in the line. For example, smoke may rise from the ground in yards, stream banks, storm drains, etc. Smoke will also escape from all manhole lids, vents on building roofs, cleanouts, and from underneath buildings if poor plumbing exists.
The smoke is:
• NON-TOXIC
• NON-STAINING
• HAS A SLIGHT ODOR
• WHITE TO GRAY IN COLOR
• CREATES NO FIRE HAZARD
You Do Not have to be on site during testing!
It is advisable to pour a gallon of water into every sink, tub, and floor drain that is NOT subject to every day use. This will fill the p-traps and prevent smoke from entering the building.
