Kathy's Obituary is now posted to the Miles Funeral Home Website. Takes a little scrolling around to find it. I had them remove the places or buttons to order Flowers. Much like Kathy L. Chrismer, preserving her legacy with a donation that keeps on giving is more appropriate. Flowers fade away faster than preserving land or helping a student at Smith college. I love you and miss you so much Kathy.

This was a new experience for me. Found this new batch of Sod Webworm Larvae in a lawn in the city of Worcester. Had scouted the lawn a week ago, when it was raining and didn’t find any insects. Found both Cinch Bugs and the Sod Webworms on the same lawn.
Just in time to treat and renovate the lawn.
Mid-August to mid-September is the best time of year for seeding and renovating lawns.

SEEDING YOUR LAWN – The Sunshine Landscaping Way….

After the heat and drought stress during July weather when lawns struggle to grow in 90 degree heat, the cooler weather in late summer offers the turf plant a chance to recover and get ready for next Spring. Mid-August to mid-September is the best time of year to improve your lawn with slice seeding and lawn renovation. The nights are cool, but the sunny days keep the soil warm, usually allowing seed to germinate in one week. The thunder storm season will have past and the rains are gentler, causing less erosion problems. There will be less competition from weeds and crabgrass, which are not germinating as aggressively as they do in the Spring and will have less time to establish themselves before the first frost arrives. And most importantly the young turf plants will have the Fall and Spring growing seasons in which to mature and develop a strong root system, before tackling the heat of next summer.
