TEAM ROGERS HAS DONE IT!
On Thursday, Oct 15th, Gerry and his wife Jennifer successfully completed the Rim-to-Rim challenge. They took on this 18 miles hike which decended 4,000 into the Grand Canyon and then climbed 4,000 feet of elevation up the other side, for World Vision and the impact was truly extraordinary. "In some ways, it was harder than we thought and in other ways it was easier, but all the training paid off!" stated Gerry.
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization working alongside vulnerable children, families, and communities to overcome poverty and build lasting change. Its work includes clean water and sanitation, child protection, education, health, disaster relief, and economic empowerment. Clean water is a particular focus. More than 800 children under the age of 5 die every day from conditions caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices! Unfortunately, mothers—some even still pregnant—and children as young as 3 years old risk their lives just to obtain dirty water for survival. Through decades of investment in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), World Vision has helped communities around the world access resources essential for children and families to thrive. Community support and fundraisers like Rim-to-Rim also contribute to these efforts.
Gerry and Jennifer helped raise funds to support over 700 moms and kids who no longer have to make that walk and risk their lives for what so many of us take for granted. When you combine that with the rest of the World Vision team on this hike, the total is over 7,000! Now that is what we call making a difference for a strong cause. 🩵
