π³ Why Do Trees Sometimes Grow Two Trunks?
Ever notice a tree that splits into two main trunks instead of growing straight up with one?
It's more common than you might think.
Some trees naturally develop multiple stems. Others form two competing leaders as they grow.
Here's where things get interesting.
When two trunks grow closely together, bark can sometimes become trapped between them. This is called included bark, and it can create a weaker connection as the tree gets larger.
Not every tree with two trunks is a problem. Some are perfectly stable.
But the way those trunks connect matters, especially as the tree matures.
It's another reminder that understanding how a tree grows is just as important as knowing how to care for it.
