Alarm Installer / Cable Technician
Job Description
Duties include but are not limited to the installation of various data cable that includes but is not limited to: twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded cable and solid conductor low voltage cable (CAT 5, 5e, and 6). Cable installation includes: placement, termination, testing, labeling & documentation. Conduct job site surveys (including visual inspections, problem identification, etc.). Test and troubleshoot cabling. Build out telecom and equipment rooms, Dress & route cable into telecom closets, modular furniture & other work area outlets.
Perform Installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting activities on Alarm Systems, Access Control, CCTV, Intercom, PA Systems, and other PC based Systems. Duties include programing panels, installing electronic door locks, surveillance cameras, intrusion alarms, keypads. etc.
Interface with customer contacts on projects & work orders. Interface with end user & coordinate with other vendors for each project when required by customer. Provide technical support for customer contacts & Technicians on request.
Report any project scope changes, issues, or concerns to assigned contacts. Perform/prepare timely field reporting of asset usage as required.
Provides technical support in activities associated with the identification, prioritization, and resolution of reported problems. Activities include recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up. Performs general maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs these systems. Perform system upgrades and analysis and provides technical support to other business units and customers in person and over the phone. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Must have at least 2 years direct experience and be DCJS registered, and have a general knowledge of low voltage systems. Knowledge of data and voice networks a plus.
