Recent lead work on this stone chimney. We ground out the mortar joints, turned a 1"riglet into the joint and sealed it with Dow 790 commercial silicone in Limestone. Roof is Duration shingles in Black Sable!

Scaffolding came down last Friday and we got our first unobscured look at the newly restored, historically-accurate "Diamond Point" Slate roof.

This is a great example of a late 19th Century, Second Empire style commercial building which typically featured a "mansard style roof" with nearly vertical walls and a flat roof on top. The vertical walls are almost always broken up by a series of dormers. In this case, the entire building was constructed with red brick likely manufactured right here in St. Louis, MO. I'm very happy with the contrast of the red brick and the unfading Black slate from the Glendyne quarry in Canada. The original roof had a single accent row ... we decided to install New York red slate which nearly matches the brick on the building.
