It’s Dig Day for Pescara Plumbing!

Big thanks to Cleveland Water and Fire Restoration, Inc. for the stellar containment setup. This will help us keep dust and debris contained and prevent it from spreading throughout the job site while work is underway.

A lot goes into these projects before the digging even starts. Planning, prep work, protection, and coordination all help keep the job running smoothly from start to finish while allowing the customer to continue operating as normally as possible. Yesterday, one of our technicians changed the element on an electric hot water heater, and this is what he pulled out of the bottom of the tank.

This picture shows the importance of flushing your tank at least once a year to reduce sediment buildup. Sediment like this can cause heating elements to fail on electric hot water heaters and lead to poor performance on gas water heaters.

If you're experiencing pressure fluctuations with your well water system, give your well pressure tank a knock. If working properly, the top half should sound hollow or make a "ping" sound. Cleveland weather always has a way of humbling you 😂

Believe it or not, your plumbing feels it too. When the temperature swings like it has lately, pipes and fixtures expand and contract. That movement can expose weak spots.

We tend to get more calls during stretches like this for leaking pipes, busted fittings, and faucets that suddenly start acting up.

Keep an eye and ear out for new sounds or signs of moisture. Catching something small now is a whole lot easier than dealing with something major later.

The pipe is clay, which was commonly used years ago. Over time, ground movement, roots, and normal wear can cause it to crack like this.

Small cracks can eventually lead to blockages, root intrusion, or slow drains. That’s why camera inspections can be so helpful when a sewer line keeps backing up.

It’s not uncommon, and something we run into quite often with older underground piping.

If you’re dealing with recurring drain issues, it might be worth taking a closer look.

As magical as he is, even he isn’t above pooping on the clock. Are you really going to deny the big guy a working bathroom because of backed-up plumbing or busted fixtures?
