As I am sure many have already read today the CDC has said that vaccinated people can travel safely in the US! This of course is great news, however as this New York Times article points out, there are still some things to take into consideration before booking your next trip, namely destinations may still have restrictions, even in the US. It is important to make sure you know before you go!

In updated recommendations, the federal health agency said both domestic and international travel was low risk for fully vaccinated Americans. But travel remains far from simple.

Confession of your travel agent...
I have traveled, I am ready to travel again, I feel safe traveling and exploring new destinations even though we are still in the midst of the pandemic. I also just recently canceled a bucket list trip I was supposed to take out of the country at the end of March. Seems like a weird thing to confess to when I am in the business of selling travel, but I think its important to point out that if you don't feel confident in your decision to go, then now is not the right time to travel.

There was a whole host of reasons why the trip was cancelled, but they all came back to policies in place in regards to the global pandemic, and the fear of testing positive and not being able to fly back as scheduled. With jobs and family responsibilities it became too big of a risk and additional expenses started to add up. I want to reiterate, I truly feel like it is safe to travel. I have clients that have got to use their passports, and more going out in the next few weeks as well. I am not giving up on travel, I just wasn't confident that the trip we had planned was happening at the right time, and confidence in your trip is important.

I am sharing this because I want to reassure you that even travel professionals are starting to look more closely at their destinations and what they feel confident in doing. This is why right now it is a great time to work with a travel agent as we are staying on top of travel guidelines, refund and cancellations policies as well as working close with the brands we are selling to assure that you feel confident in your plans. And as your start planning, if you are not feeling confident, it's okay to cancel if now is not the right time. Travel will still be there and so will I.

To protect the health of those who live, work and visit our national parks and facilities, and in support of the President’s Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing, face masks are now required to be worn by all guests and visitors across our operations when inside our facilities, in line or gathered for services, and anywhere appropriate social distancing cannot be maintained.

Is it safe to travel to Mexico right now? Yes! I just had a group of 18 return. This is what one of them had to say:
“Our trip was amazing, we had a blast with all of our friends. The resort employees were very friendly and attentive, we felt like it was our own private resort due to so little guests staying there 😊.”

Many of the resorts in Mexico are doing the COVID test right on property, free of charge! When you check in, they will set up your appointment so you don’t have to worry about it. Also in the unlikely event you do have a positive test, they have rooms to quarantine in, free of charge, many for up to 10-14 days!

Let’s talk staying safe and staying healthy while traveling. This week I travelled by air, visited Walt Disney World, a snorkeling adventure and Universal Studios. High visitor areas 🙂
Everywhere I went the theme was consistent:
Maintain social distancing,
Wear a mask,
Wash and sanitize your hands,
Stay home if you are feeling sick.
My hands were sanitized before and after every ride, people were reminded how to properly wear a mask, fun stickers and lines were on the ground to tell me where to stand. They are all going above and beyond to ensure I had a safe and fun experience!
What did I bring with me?
Masks! Lots of them, all Wyoming themed, which lead to meeting some great people from Wyoming.
Hand Santizer. Even though it was available everywhere, I still carried it with me and my hotel provided individual ones as well to carry.
Alcohol wipes. Just in case I felt a need to wipe something down, but I never did. I did however see people using them on the plane.

The CDC guidelines, along with resort guidelines and even country entry requirements are constantly still changing. I am staying on top of these and relaying relevant information to clients as they may impact their trips. I understand not everyone is ready to travel at this time, but Travel Awaits and whenever you are ready to travel, I am excited to help get you there!

Started my day today at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. What a great experience and momentary escape from reality! Universal has great precautions in place throughout the resort, providing for a safe guest experience. With great packages available, now is a great time to make some memories at Universal Studios Resort in Orlando.

As we continue to navigate these uncharted waters of traveling during the pandemic, I wanted to share with you the new CDC requirements for air passengers flying into the United States, that will go into effect on Jan. 26th. The new requirement states:

“Air passengers are required to get a viral test (a test for current infection) within the 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs, and provide written documentation of their laboratory test result (paper or electronic copy) to the airline or provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. Airlines must confirm the negative test result for all passengers or documentation of recovery before they board. If a passenger does not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery, or chooses not to take a test, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger.”

This release just came out today, so I am sure airlines and destinations are working to figure out how to accommodate this requirement. I will post more information as it becomes available.

Welcome to 2021!
I had made the decision a while ago to put the travel agency on a pause as the world navigated this pandemic. With so much uncertainty, I did not feel that it was in the best interest of my business or clients to promote travel when we were not sure how the industry was going to be able to navigate and open.

As always the travel industry is showing its resilience and ingenuity as they are continuing to rebound. I have clients ready to start planning, some ready to travel and to be honest even I have two bucket lists trips already booked for this year! It's now the perfect time to start planning your next adventure, and I am ready to help you get there.
