Think a 2-ton AC always needs a 15A breaker because it draws around 12 amps?

Not so fast.
The formula can help you estimate the running current, but it doesn’t tell you how to size the circuit protection.
For that, always check the equipment nameplate:

✅ MCA (Minimum Circuit Ampacity) → helps determine the minimum wire size
✅ MOCP (Maximum Overcurrent Protection) → tells you the maximum breaker or fuse size allowed by the manufacturer

Mixing these up can lead to nuisance trips, undersized wiring, or code 👇 What’s the most common mistake you see when someone sizes a breaker?
