🚨 In Chicago, when choosing a plumber, the number one thing you should do is ask to see a valid plumber’s license before anyone touches your plumbing. Trust your gut on whether you need more than one quote. Favor flat rate pricing over an open-ended hourly bill. Watch for the other red flags: no price range, no parts on the truck, and no same-day solution.

At Baethke Plumbing, this isn't an arbitrary checklist for us; it's how we operate. All our plumbers are licensed, bonded, and insured, and they all carry their licenses with them to every job. We quote fair, flat-rate pricing upfront, and we don't run on commission because we'd rather earn your trust than sell you something you don’t need or want.

Check out this fun project we’ve been working on in ! We’re installing a backwater check valve to help protect this home from city sewer backups, plus an evacuation pump so the homeowner can keep using their plumbing if one occurs. 🛠️🏠 Heavy rain, melting snow, or an overloaded sewer system can cause wastewater to back up into your home.

We made a stop at Kohler’s headquarters in Kohler, Wisconsin, on our way to —and came away with some pretty fascinating history!

Did you know Kohler has been around since 1883? Its first bathtub was made by turning a heated, enameled cast-iron hog-scalding trough into a tub. Kohler also engineered an engine-powered electric generator in 1920, and colorful bathroom fixtures arrived around 1927.

And here’s another surprise: during World War II, Kohler helped make torpedo launch tubes for Manitowoc submarines, along with artillery and tank shells, airplane parts, generators, power plants, and plumbing supplies. Who knew they were more than just a pretty toilet, tub, and sink?

One of our clients ditched their old tank for a tankless water heater. The setup costs a little more, but there is now more space, and the hot water keeps coming—so nobody has to rinse off soap in an unexpected ice bath. 🥶🚿

If you are shopping for a water heater in Chicago, compare tank and tankless options to find your perfect match! 773-303-6465 | https://www.baethkeplumbing.com/blog/water-heater-tank-tankless-chicago/
