For thirty-four years, Brininstool + Lynch has been on an extraordinary journey. We are deeply grateful to the staff who contributed immeasurable creativity and energy; to our loyal and supportive clients who challenged us; and to a community of partners and fellow-travelers who made this journey not only generative, but fun. For all of us, Brininstool + Lynch has been more than a design platform — it has been our spiritual home.
Which makes it even harder to write these next lines. After careful reflection, we came to the very difficult decision to wind down our current practice. Nothing could prepare us for the loss of Brad Lynch in 2022. While our hearts are heavy, we believe that there can be no Brininstool + Lynch without Lynch. Over the past months, we began a deliberate, thoughtful transition process with the intention of saying an emotional goodbye to Brininstool + Lynch.
This is not a farewell. We know that the best way to honor what came before is to invent what comes after. And we know that the legacy of this important firm will continue to reverberate — in memories and conversations, in pedagogy and publications, and, most important, in buildings that have reshaped the landscape in Chicago and beyond.
We are grateful for the journey we’ve been on together – and enthusiastic to announce the next generation. As of this year, our partners Jen Park and Brad Fowler have founded an imaginative, co-creative design practice – ParkFowler Plus. You can find them at www.parkfowler.plus. I can’t imagine a more suitable tribute to the legacy Brad and I built together.
