My personal landscape is a work in progress, but many of the perennials are growing in nicely. The shade cloth is a temporary privacy screen - our back fence is a chain link that opens to a middle school. It was nice and quiet until they added a track just a couple of feet away. Of course, we like that kids and neighbors are getting more exercise. It just turned our backyard into a fish bowl. Plants- salvia mystic spires, sea lavender, red bud flame thrower, clematis, oak leaf hydrangea, salvia vibe Ignition, bulbine, Sombrero Echinacea, salvia vibe sunrise,

A little sunshine 🌞 between the rain 🌦 storms. This aloe has been a delight. It is either 'safari rose' or 'safari sunshine' by . It was a last second replacement for 'blue elf', which was unavailable at the time. I've been impressed with its cold hardiness, blooms, and consistent color quality.

Our recent mini excavator purchase - Will it fit? Like a glove! There is so much to be said for compact equipment! Bigger isn't always better. We have a lot of demolition in this large backyard with less than 36" wide sideyard access. They built the breezeway for access in mind, but the arch is only 8'. We had about 1.5 inches to spare.

A small backyard project that has been one of our most complex and detailed projects to date. A lot of trades will have touched this project by completion - concrete, masonry, stucco, painters (stain), plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and landscaping. We've been the point on the project - installing all drainage, irrigation, trenching for all lines, establishing grade, and installation of retaining walls. Much more to come - stone faced walls and planters, terraced concrete, pavers/gas fire pit, lighting, sunken spa and deck, water feature, and outdoor kitchen.

⬅️👆An exciting event happened in July for the family! We bought a house to call our own. The first order of business was the interior; but with most of that finished, we are now able to attend to the landscape. We have a lot in the works - Japanese garden, outdoor dining and pergola, children's play area, water features, fire pit/breakfast dining, and more. Just a few of our recent plantings: 'Black Tulip' Magnolia, helleborus, acorus, mondo grass, sedum 'Angelina', leucadendron 'Safari Sunset', camellia sasanqua 'White Doves', Moroccan daisy, euphorbia 'Miners Merlot', Citus 'Mickie'

I took the little guy for his first tent camping trip this weekend - we drove up 32 for a quick overnight stay at Potato Patch Campground in Lassen National Forest. It was a fun little trip and oh'boy is he ready for more. We fished, made camp food, s'mores (his favorite), and flipped a lot of rocks over to see was underneath (ants, Beatles, centipedes, worms, and more ants). The Pacific Dogwoods we're in bloom and saw this (new to me) Scarlet fritillary...I can see the hummers going nuts for it. We also saw a lot of bats, which required a lot of reassurance that they aren't blood suckers. It was a whole lot of fun just an hour East of here.
