Trees have extracted all the energy they can from the leaves, have dropped them during the winter months, and are in dormancy. Now is an excellent time to do any pruning of dead, dying, and diseased limbs. Also a good time to assess the structure of the entire canopy. Inspect for defects, such as cracking.
Give us a call. I will come out and give a free assessment. (530)354-4285

The Hausmannian Building In Paris, Better Known As "The Melting Building."

The Hausmannian Building on Georges V Avenue in Paris, France, is called the 'melting building.' Referred to as trompe l'oeil (trick the eye), it's a mural and an optical illusion that appeared in 2007. The old building needed restoration work, but instead of contemplating the scaffold, a creative solution was found. Artist Pierre Delavie made pictures of the building in its original form. Then, the images were distorted by a computer program and printed on large canvases, which completely shut down the house's facade. Frederic Beaudoin pasted over the image of the foam cornices, and distinguishing reality from the picture has become very difficult, especially at a distance.

It was nice watching Pedro Castro work with my crew Nivardo, Cunningham Caleb, and Wes, take down a monster Deodar cedar yesterday. It takes some gumption to get up there and remove a large tree like that. Good work.

-WARNING-
When the temperatures reach 100 degrees and higher valley oaks close their stomata to conserve water. This, along with little to no wind, can lead to sudden limb failure. Be careful not to seek out shade under mature valley oaks in the evenings following these high temperatures. If you hear loud popping sounds, run away from trunk as fast as possible.
Any tree is susceptible to limb failure, but mature valley oaks are known for this behavior.
End weight reduction on the heavy cantilevered branches is a must to decrease the chance of such an event.
