🏠 What does “standard” really mean when you're looking at a new home?
It doesn't mean a lesser home.

A standard home still gives you the quality construction you expect. The difference is usually in the extras — things like upgraded faucets, solid-surface countertops, walk-in showers and other optional finishes and features.

For some homeowners, those upgrades are important. For others, a well-built home with standard finishes is exactly what they need.

Standard can still be a great home. It just comes without all the fancy extras. 🏡

Most people begin with a floor plan because it gives them a starting point — not necessarily a finished answer.

Depending on the home, plans can often be customized to better fit the way you want to live. That might mean changing a room layout, adjusting a kitchen, adding or moving windows, or choosing different finishes and features.

The goal isn’t simply to find a floor plan you can live with.

It’s to start with a plan you like and determine how it can become your home.

🏠 What happens to your home before it ever reaches your property? Quite a lot.
One advantage of modular construction happens long before you see the home arrive at your building site.

Major portions of the home are constructed indoors in a controlled environment rather than being built entirely outside and exposed to the weather throughout construction.

Walls, floors, insulation, drywall, cabinetry and many of the finishes can already be in place before the home ever makes the trip to your property.
Then the modules arrive at the site, are set on the permanent foundation, and the next phase of construction begins.

By the time you see your home coming down the road, a lot of the building has already happened. 🏡

🏡 Choosing a floor plan is exciting. But before you build, there’s another important piece of the puzzle — your land.

Every property is different. Access for delivery and construction equipment, the slope of the property, utilities, drainage and where the home will sit can all affect a building project.

That’s why the site itself needs to be part of the conversation — not something figured out after everything else has been decided.
At D&W Homes, a site inspection is part of the process before a home is ordered, so we can evaluate the property and better understand what will be involved in building there.

It’s Saturday morning coffee at the kitchen counter that somehow turns into an hour-long conversation.
It’s muddy shoes by the door, dinner around the table, a favorite chair that nobody else is allowed to claim, and a porch that gets used whenever the weather cooperates.

There’s a lot that has to happen between choosing a floor plan and getting the keys.
The foundation has to be prepared. The home has to be delivered and set. HVAC, utilities and site connections have to come together. Then there’s the interior and exterior finish work that turns everything into a completed home.
That’s a big part of what D&W Homes does.

🏠 A modular home isn’t a different type of house. It’s a different way of building one.

Instead of constructing the entire home outdoors at the building site, major sections are built in a controlled environment and then transported to the property and assembled on the foundation.
The finished home is built to residential building codes, just like a traditionally site-built home.
For the homeowner, the end result is what matters most: a permanent home on your property, built on a permanent foundation and designed for everyday living for years to come.
