LYLES joined Placer County Water Agency and regional partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Ophir Water Treatment Plant—a project decades in the making that we’re proud to help bring to life as the construction contractor.

Expected to begin operating in 2030, the plant will initially treat up to 10 million gallons of drinking water per day, supporting growing communities across western Placer County and strengthening reliability for existing customers.

For our team, this milestone marks the start of work with a lasting purpose: building infrastructure that families, businesses, and communities will depend on for generations.
Thank you to PCWA for trusting LYLES with this important work.

An Assistant Project Manager is more than a role behind the scenes. It’s a chance to learn the work, take on real responsibility, solve problems alongside experienced builders, and help keep complex projects moving forward.

At LYLES, that experience happens where it matters most, on projects that support the essential infrastructure communities depend on every day.

Build your knowledge. Build your career. Build work that matters.

Please join us in celebrating our Foreman John Kenney, recipient of AGC of California’s Individual Safety Effort of a Frontline Foreman award at the Construction Safety Excellence Awards!
John brings WML’s commitment to a zero-accident culture to life through the way he leads his crew every day. His leadership shows what it means to put safety into practice, look out for one another, and take responsibility for everyone going home safely.
Seeing that commitment recognized by AGC of California makes all of us at LYLES incredibly proud. Congratulations, John, and thank you for setting an example worth celebrating!

Behind every successful project is a team turning plans into progress.
This week, we’re spotlighting the Project Engineer role from coordinating details to helping teams solve challenges and keep work moving forward. Take a look at what it takes to bring a project to life.

Some jobs are on the schedule. Others happen when the call comes.

On Friday October 2, an existing hot water line serving the plant’s digesters failed somewhere underground. The leak flooded an electrical vault and damaged wiring serving a significant portion of the facility.

It was not part of our work. But the plant needed help.

A four-person LYLES crew stepped in Friday morning and worked a 12-hour day to locate the source of the leak. Then they came back Saturday, putting their weekend plans aside, to make the repair and help keep the plant’s boilers and digesters operating while new electrical wiring was installed.

That kind of response says a lot about the people behind our work.

Experience matters. Technical skill matters. But so does the willingness to show up when something unexpected happens, take responsibility for the problem in front of you, and do what it takes to keep critical infrastructure running.

Four people. One unexpected problem. A weekend changed.

And a plant that could keep moving forward.

That is the grit our crews bring to the work every day.

At LYLES, Field Engineers are where planning meets ex*****on. They work alongside project teams in the field, solve real problems, coordinate the details that keep work moving, and learn what it takes to build complex infrastructure from the ground up.

It is hands-on experience. Real responsibility. And an opportunity to grow into the next generation of builders and leaders.

As we recognize Careers in Construction Month this October, we are highlighting the many paths that turn meaningful work into long-term careers. For Field Engineers, that path starts where the work happens, learning from experienced builders, taking ownership, and seeing firsthand how strong teams deliver projects communities depend on.

If you are looking for a career where you can learn the work, take on responsibility, and see the impact of what you build, explore opportunities with LYLES.

Critical infrastructure is easy to overlook when it’s doing exactly what it should.

But reliable performance is the result of thousands of decisions made along the way.

Planning the work. Coordinating around live systems. Solving problems in the field. Understanding what has to happen next.

And behind every one of those decisions are people whose experience matters.

That’s how dependable infrastructure gets built.

What a difference a year makes.

One year apart. Same project. A whole lot of work in between.

The Palmdale Water District’s Pure Water AV Demonstration Facility has taken shape through months of planning, coordination, problem-solving, and hard work in the field.

And behind that progress is a team of engineers, craft professionals, and field leaders who show up every day and keep the work moving.

Swipe through to see how far the project has come, and meet some of the people making it happen.

Great work, team.
