Meet Matt- If you need something done, Matt is probably already doing it. He’s the kind of guy who would never say, “That’s not my job.” He leads by example, pitches in wherever he’s needed, and does whatever it takes to get the job done right.
Matt earned his degree in Turfgrass Management from Cincinnati State and was the Owner/Operator of Allcock Family Landscaping before joining forces with Native Roots.
Today, Matt plays a huge role in keeping things moving behind the scenes and out in the field. He keeps our equipment and fleet trucks on schedule with maintenance, while also leading some of our largest landscape projects on a daily basis.
But beyond his experience and leadership, what really stands out is his willingness to jump in wherever he’s needed. Whether he’s leading a crew, solving a problem, getting his hands dirty, or helping with something that technically isn’t his job, Matt gets it done.
Outside of Native Roots, Matt is a husband and dad to two sons. We’re lucky to have his experience, work ethic, and leadership on our team.

9.5 FEET OF PURE OHIO NATUVE BEAUTY.
Did you guess it yesterday? 👀
Meet the Burr Oak (Quercus macrocarpa). Already 9.5 feet tall, with plenty of growing left to do. And if you know anything about Burr Oaks, you know this one has some serious potential.

THE BARK GIVES IT AWAY.
The bark gives it away.
The Burr Oak is known for its rugged, deeply textured bark, and as it matures, those unmistakable bur-like acorns.
If you caught yesterday’s “What am I?” quiz, this is the bark you were trying to identify!

MORE THAN JUST A BEAUTIFUL TREE.
Burr Oak is a wildlife powerhouse. Its acorns provide an important food source for wildlife including deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, and other mammals and birds. 🌰

It also serves as a host plant for the caterpillars of dozens of moth and butterfly species, making it a valuable addition to a habitat-focused landscape.

DID YOU GUESS IT? 👀
If you caught our story earlier, you may have seen this tree’s branch and been asked, “What am I?” Well… here’s the answer: Paw Paw (Asimina triloba)!
This Ohio native is already ~7 feet tall and ready to make a statement in your landscape.

MORE THAN JUST A PRETTY TREE. 🦋
Paw Paw is an important host plant for the Zebra Swallowtail butterfly. Its caterpillars rely exclusively on Paw Paw leaves for food.
It’s also the host plant for the Paw Paw Sphinx Moth, whose caterpillars feed on its foliage.
When you plant a Paw Paw, you’re not just adding a beautiful native tree to your landscape. You’re creating habitat for native insects, too.

THE BEST PART? YOU CAN EAT ITS FRUIT. 🤤
Paw Paws produce delicious, custard-like fruit with a tropical flavor, and they’re one of Ohio’s most unique native trees.
Native. Edible. Wildlife-friendly. And right now, this Paw Paw is 30% OFF through August 31!
Come get yours while they’re here.

From bare ground to fresh green. 🌱
This project has been taking shape for a while, and the transformation is really starting to show. Fresh sod is in, adding another layer to the landscape as we continue bringing the design to life.
Still a work in progress, but we’re getting closer. 👀

One of our absolute faves. And we’re stocked up right now. 🙌🏻🫶🏻

BIG TREE ENERGY.
This 15-gallon Swamp White Oak (Quercus bicolor) is already making a statement- standing approximately 9 feet tall and ready to grow into a magnificent shade tree.

TAKE A CLOSER LOOK.
The Swamp White Oak’s beautiful leaves are deep green above and silvery-white underneath, giving this native tree a little extra dimension.

IMAGINE THIS VIEW YEARS FROM NOW.
Swamp White Oaks do more than provide shade. Their acorns feed birds and mammals, while their leaves support hundreds of species of caterpillars and other insects, making them an incredible addition to a wildlife-friendly landscape.
