I love boxwoods, I love the way the feel, the way you can shape them, but especially how they smell. I love English gardens, the long winding walkways that connect one area to the next. Yup, essentially they are my fav. I love them so Much I have 126 of them.
England has been fighting the boxwood caterpillar for around a decade. It has decimated their boxwoods. After years of fighting with little success they have removed their boxwoods and replaced them with yews.
The boxwood caterpillar has made its way to the east side of Cincinnati OH. I sprayed my boxwoods this spring. I am in the process of treating them again. As I was spraying the boxwoods, the moths flew out, yup they are here.
I am sad, I am hoping that enough knowledge has been gleaned over the past decade in Europe that there will be a cure. So I spray, with my fingers crossed. I am fairly sure these boxwoods that line the aisle my daughter walked down to be married will need to be removed and replaced. That makes me sad.
