This is a kind 'shout out' featuring Tim Curry. Outside of helping customers in the community with electrical needs, him and his wife Traci also spend countless hours donating their time and energy to helping others. We are proud of our Team at Curry Electric!
Member Highlight: Tim Curry, of Anderson, Ohio. You may know Tim if in the last 34 years you've had emergent need of an excellent Electrician. He may have come to your rescue in his role as the President of Curry Electric. You may know Tim if you have been involved in Anderson Days in years past as he volunteers his professional skills to help contribute to the success of that event. You also may know Tim if you met him in August of 2022 in Kentucky. Back in August, Tim joined 800 other members of Cincinnati East Stake organized to provide disaster relief for flood survivors down in Eastern KY. He was one of our worldwide church’s volunteer group, the Helping Hands, the more than 1,000 volunteers who came to assist with flood clean-up and other tasks following the historic floods that impacted Eastern Kentucky. Volunteers like Tim came from neighboring states such as West Virginia, Tennessee, and Ohio, as well as from Central and Western Kentucky, and starting only two weeks after the weather disaster, camped in tents on church grounds or in community parks, bringing in their own tools, and remaining as self-sufficient as possible over the following two weekends. Tim, after seeing the devistation and hardship of his neighbors, was not satisfied with being able to help for a weekend or two in August. In Tim's own words, "I reached out to when we were in the encampment to muck out and offered to help with thanksgiving. At that point I had no idea what that was to entail. I just left my number and said "Here I am. Call me when you have an idea of what to do." feedingeastky.org Is a group doing meals down there on an ongoing basis. I thought I was going to deep fry a bunch of turkeys, and I can volunteer myself for anything, but they needed more than I could do on my own. I contacted President Lesan [our multicongregational spiritual leader] and he gave the go-ahead to mobilize our entire organization."
The culmination of Mr. Curry's exceptional citizenship is detailed in the first link below.
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Feeding East Kentucky received a large donation on Saturday from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints out of Ohio. The Church sent a caravan with all of the Thanksgiving meal staples as a donation to the non-profit.
“They brought us well over 200 turkeys, they brought us all the dressing, the mashed potatoes, green beans,” said Feeding EKY President Brent Handshoe.
The donation was immediately taken and prepared for meals throughout the next three days.
“We stayed in the kitchen last night till 9:00 preparing a lot of the veggies and we did all the prep work just to get it out today,” said Handshoe. “Today we have done 700 meals.”
