Viridian Landscaping Viridian is a design/build company. We are passionate about plants, dirt, nature and design. We are Matt Schwab and Susana Rose.

We specialize in hardscaping like water features, patios, paths, lighting - softscaping to include all aspects of the living botanical elements in your garden. Matt has 18 years of landscape and general construction experience. He was the lead foreman and held the All-Phases contractors license for Winterbloom from 2000-2010. He then went on to design and build multiple farm buildings and a house.

Matt enjoys being outdoors and learning about plants. Susana holds an Interior Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and studied Architecture in Italy. She has 20 years of design experience at architecture firms. Susana enjoys exploring natural and built environments. Together we share a love for hiking, photography and travel. We are often out exploring with our son, Jack and our 2 dogs.

Finished up the boulder placement and flagstone pathway on our project in SE Portland. The boulders we used came from our client’s eastern Oregon ranch. They hosted Susie and me overnight on their family’s homestead. Being able to use boulders from a place with so much history and meaning to our clients added an element of depth and authenticity to this project. We are grateful that our clients chose us for this unique project

Smart removals make for big changes. By removing the Alaskan Cedars and Vinca, we were able to brighten up the entrance of this clients home and create opportunities for new plantings. It was a lot of work digging out the roots but the result was well worth it.

The Fairy Garden at Ridgefield, WA – Design and Install Update

We are about three-quarters done with this project and will be installing plants, pathways, lighting, and trellises in the coming days.

Our task was to design a garden that provides screening from a nearby walkway and neighboring houses while maintaining views of the greenspace; to terrace an unstable slope; to create vignettes within the garden for both humans and fairies; and to add pathways that draw the eye to key features throughout.

This has been an exciting project, and we’re thrilled to see it coming together.
