I got to do a fun personal project in our house over the past couple weeks! We moved our bathroom vanity to our basement bathroom and I made this double vanity to go in its place, and had my first experience installing tile. All the wood is my favorite, black walnut, and I made a book matched top for the taller middle cabinet. The before picture is from when we first got the house!

I had the honor of building a new communion table for our church! I pray it will bring glory to God and serve the church for many years. This build challenged me in new ways with several techniques I haven’t tried before, including the breadboard ends on the tabletop and the flush inlayed cross on the side panels.

The draw bore mortise and tenon joint is a traditional timber frame style joint. In this video I attach the tabletop ends, known as breadboards, on this communion table I am building for my church. The joint starts with a long tenon being cut into the table top, and a matching mortise cut into the breadboard. Holes that are slightly offset are drilled so when the peg is pounded in, it draws the breadboard tight against the table top. The holes on each end are slightly elongated, which allows the opposing wood grain directions to expand and contract seasonally, while still holding the joint together.
