Finally. FINALLY! An actual vacation. No kids. No dogs. Just Karen and I and our van, (Sherman cause it’s an old tank).
Alaska via Canada, sea fishing for Halibut, Salmon, Rockfish and Ling Cod. So far we got a lot of meat coming home and getting more tomorrow.
The scenery is spectacular to say the least and our weather has been just as spectacular, mostly sunshine and 75 degrees….a rarity for here. We’re taking 4 weeks this time, a real vacation for a change. No schedule. No limits. Just left and went where we wanted to go that day. Enjoy the photos.

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, mostly due to illness and slow work conditions(winter ugh), I will be posting some pictures of our latest home build soon.
This post is about the current times we are facing, things are changing rapidly and we all need to adapt! Material prices in the sense of wood products have come down, however, others continue to rise. Metals, chemical, plastics and others are rising….yet…again. Overall our price per Sq ft have stayed the same. We try to be more than competitive, we strive for high quality at the same cost other builders charge for a basic spec home, we use better lumber, insulation, cabinetry and trim and of course, labor. Being a small crew we can build a high end custom home or garage for less as our profit margins are much lower.
That’s going to change. For the first time in 7 years, I had a client confirm and then cancel their home build due to costs.
I’ve asked all our subcontractors to think about cutting profit and labor costs, I am doing the same. It’s gonna hurt but I would rather keep everyone busy than lay them off.
Most have agreed and will work with us, however, those that still think we are in a boom are no longer with us.
That being said, if you or anyone you know is looking for a builder, we suddenly have room.

Every once in a while, I meet and build for some people you can’t help but call family after they move in. This is yet another one to add to that list for me. The DeSlaurier’s have become such good friends that I’m going to keep on building, they’ve convinced me I can’t quit, that’s a hard task. This house turned out so damned beautiful I’m honestly proud and humbled. It was a fun build, tough build(winter builds suck) but the end result is one to admire. Special thanks to Greg and Robyn for being a part and helping out with the tile work, wood beams and accent walls.
FYI…Greg is a flooring Instsller, and he has done some jobs for me, did phenomenal work and will be installer from this point on! This build happened during in part to my subs all coming through on time.

If you are or know of a contractor in the Helena area who’s had job site materials or tools stolen, a large theft ring has been busted as of this am. A contractor took my advice and placed cameras on his site and got information enough to catch the thieves, call Lewis and Clark County sheriffs office for more info.
