If you have diabetes, keeping your blood glucose and A1c values in a healthy range could help you prevent fractures. A research article published in May 2023 notes that people with Type 1 diabetes and three-year mean A1c values greater than 8% had slightly higher fracture risks than those with A1c values of 7% or less. For people with Type 2 diabetes, the results were mixed; some studies found no association while others reported higher fracture risks with varying A1c levels.

As always, take care of yourself, and remember to talk with your health care professional about managing your unique health care needs.
