A little bit of information about Richardson Construction, LLC, and how it began..
Richardson Construction, LLC is located at 118 S. 15th St., is owned and operated by Eric Richardson. Eric is a graduate of Clarinda High School and the SWCC carpentry program. He is assisted by his father, Ron and his wife Jessica, who manage his office. Eric first established his business in Clarinda in 1994 and grew from minor remodel jobs to the building of upscale homes. In 2002 he accepted a job in suburban Denver, CO where he was involved in the design, construction and marketing of roof truss systems. Other opportunities came along and lead him into other facets of the construction industry. He became adept at the evaluation, selection and installation of windows and siding. He honed his skills as a finish carpenter by working in the production of expensive custom furniture that involved the use of exotic wood veneers and inlays by use of sophisticated techniques and equipment. Those skills were also used as a finish contractor on multi-million dollar custom homes. He renovated numerous properties for real estate “flippers” in the Denver area. Eventually, after a severe hail storm hit the vicinity, he became associated with a group that specialized in roofing. He attended and was certified by a claims adjustor school in Texas. He has used this extensive experience to help his customers deal with their insurance carriers in resolving claims issues. When the September hail storm hit Clarinda in 2010, Eric was enticed to return to Clarinda. Since then he has re-established his carpentry business and offers a full range of construction services to his customers through a network of quality sub-contractors with whom he works. The offices of Richardson Construction are located in part of the building at 120 S. 15th St. Originally, Eric rented shop space in the back portion of the building and later had the opportunity to acquire the entire property. The building is now a multi-purpose facility which houses a rental apartment, the company office, and living quarters for Eric’s family and his shop. The office/living quarters area of the property is unique in Clarinda. It has the feel of a city “loft” apartment and is done in an industrial/modern style featuring finishes that Richardson Construction can bring to its customers. The area was opened to the public on the 2016 “Taste Of Clarinda” and was one of the homes featured on the 2017 “Tour of Homes”.
