Fruit flies are often blamed when another insect is the culprit, which makes control efforts - pardon the pun - fruitless. Here we have phorid flies that were identified and then traced to a bag of moldy, rotting potatoes; treating drains didn't help, as they weren't the breeding source.

Spiders coming inside? Males of many ground-dwelling species seek females in the fall, and wander in unintentionally. Cooling temperatures lead folks to believe they are seeking winter shelter, but they're really just looking for love in all the wrong places!

Some spiders species 𝘢𝘳𝘦 adapted to living inside protected areas in nature; they will try to be "inside" anytime they need new hunting grounds. Molting to maturity, running out of prey, or leaving an area that is disturbed too often can drive them to new areas, which may include your home.
