For this lakeside approach, we used corten steel risers and permeable gravel treads to create a pathway that feels stitched into the land rather than imposed upon it. The weathering steel introduces structure and rhythm, while the gravel system allows water to infiltrate naturally into the hillside — blending performance with restraint.
The result is a quiet transition to the lake that feels timeless, grounded, and connected to the architecture and surrounding terrain.

Transformation Tuesday 🔥

This garden renovation transformed the backyard into a refined outdoor living experience with expansive stone terraces, layered plantings, architectural lighting, and intimate gathering spaces designed for day-to-night enjoyment.

A timeless landscape designed to feel effortless, elegant, and deeply connected to the architecture.

Our gates create a sense of arrival - balancing privacy, intrigue, and timeless character. ✨

This garden begins to take shape with corten steel edges, exposed aggregate underfoot, and the quiet structure of hornbeam and boxwood. Maintaining the design intent is foundational to how we approach long-term garden care.

The arrival approach sets the tone from the very first visit. Clean lines, balanced plantings, and thoughtful symmetry guide you to a warm, timeless entrance.

We loved bringing this landscape to life - framing the architecture with structure, texture, and seasonal interest while keeping it effortlessly refined.

After 18 months in the planning stages… it’s go time.

Excited to kick off this incredible project in East Grand Rapids. This one brings together split-faced stone garden walls and ashlar pattern bluestone- materials that will create a timeless, grounded landscape to complement the architecture.

Grateful to be collaborating with a talented team on this one.

When art and nature come together 🤍

A hand-selected 20-ton mossy boulder becomes a sculpture.

Ipe decking adds warmth and precision scribed around the boulder.

Japanese forest grass softens the edges with movement and light.

Landscape design at its best doesn’t compete with nature - it frames it. It respects scale. It celebrates texture. It turns something ancient into something intentional.

This is what happens when raw elements meet thoughtful design. 🪨
