The reality of owning your own business is truly astounding.

There are times you look back and realize the contractors don’t care about the excuses, the struggles, or what it took to get there. Did you get the work done? Good. You get paid. On to the next one.

In the middle of 2025, we stepped into a large-scale project that tested me and my team in ways I never expected. Looking back now, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished. I feel like I’ve gained a lifetime’s worth of knowledge in less than a year.

But one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this: at this level, there are no participation trophies.

Get the work done. Get it done right. No excuses. No mistakes. And don’t expect an “atta boy” when you finish.

Owning a business is not for the weak.

Work hard. Hold yourself to a higher standard. Make yourself proud. And every once in a while, stop moving long enough to look back and realize just how far you and your team have come.

I’m proud of E&J Electric. And I’m damn proud of the team that helped us get here.

We often lose jobs to contractors who are simply chasing the lowest price, and that’s okay! our goals simply aren’t the same.

We don’t quote projects just to get them done. We design and install electrical systems with the expectation that they’ll be installed once and perform reliably for their entire service life. We refuse to cut corners, use subpar materials, or take shortcuts just to win a bid.

What we guarantee is simple: when we install it, it works. Every time. Our customers are paying for quality, safety, reliability, and the peace of mind that the job was done right the first time.

On another note, E&J Electric is growing again! We’re actively looking to connect with contractors throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. If you’re a reliable contractor or know someone who shares our commitment to quality and professionalism, we’d love to talk. Another successful medium-voltage installation in the books.

Our team completed 150+ medium-voltage terminations using 15kV cold-shrink technology on a 6,600V system, delivering safe, precise, and reliable connections from start to finish.

Projects like these demand attention to detail, proper testing, and a commitment to doing the job right the first time. We’re incredibly proud of our crew for their craftsmanship, professionalism, and dedication throughout this project.

Most importantly, we’re grateful to our customer for trusting E&J Electric with such a critical scope of work. Opportunities like this don’t happen without strong partnerships, and we never take that trust for granted.

Big shoutout to our crew for taking the necessary precautions before we start throwing around cable and making terminations. In this industry, preparation, safety, and precision matter just as much as the installation itself.

Did you know there’s a very specific process behind installing MVS cable? From cable handling procedures, bend radius requirements, insulation resistance testing, grounding, stress cone preparation, torque specifications, and proper termination methods — every step matters. One mistake in medium-voltage installation can lead to catastrophic equipment failure, downtime, or serious safety hazards.

That’s why our team takes pride in doing things the right way the first time — safely, professionally, and to manufacturer specifications.
