Dearest friends and clients,

The sun has been shining, bugs are starting to come out in droves, and the time has come once again when the dreaded "Door-Knockers" ie door-to-door salespeople are making their rounds so we want to go over a few things we have come across in the last few years, as well as a bit of friendly advice:

1. We ARE still in business and have no intention going anywhere (salespeople have stated to clients we are no longer servicing areas that we have active customers in)

2. We will NEVER "contract" with or "authorize" another company to sell services on our behalf. If the person at your door does not have a B&S logo on their uniform, or (at the time of this post) is under 6' tall they are NOT a representative of our company.

3. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Salespeople will make every promise they can to get your information and sell you a service. Get a second opinion or even a third If you're skeptical.

4. Most salespeople are not licensed in the state to provide the service you sign up for. Always hire a licensed and insured company to service your home or property. You can request license information from your technician, which is legally required to be carried on their person.

And finally...

5. Never sign a contract without reading it in it's entirety! You might be setting yourself up for a major headache.

We hope this has been insightful and helpful

B&S Pest Management is taking the next step as shepherds of the environment to support pollinators. We have teamed up with local bee keepers to offer safe honey bee removal! All swarms and colonies will be relocated to designated areas in our community to support one of nature's most valuable resources. We are also investing in equipment to safely remove honey bees from established structures

Furthermore, if you would like to be added to our list of "honey bee home" properties send us a message! We will provide all materials and maintain the colony as it works and grows, then take care of the colony once winter moves in. We already have a set list of properties, but if this initiative gains traction we would love the chance to expand!

In Case You Missed It-

We were featured in Pest Control Technology (PCT) Magazine!

We had the pleasure of working with BASF, a trusted chemical manufacturer, by being a product tester early last year, and PCT wanted to hear about it!

How Ridesco® WG Insecticide helped one pest management company minimize callbacks and boost overall efficiency.

Buckle up folks this is a long one, and something that is very personal to me on multiple levels. I was hesitant about making a post, but after talking to folks I feel it is a necessity...

As a local small business owner, I strongly oppose Oregon’s Initiative Petition 28 (IP28) because of the serious consequences it would have for pest control operators, farmers, ranchers, and food producers across our state. This petition is quickly gaining support paving the way to add it to the November 2026 ballot.

IP28 would remove long-standing exemptions in Oregon law that currently allow regulated activities such as pest control, livestock production, hunting, fishing, commercial fishing, and animal husbandry. Without those protections, many routine and necessary practices involved in raising food, managing wildlife, and controlling disease-carrying pests would be treated as criminal offenses.

For local farmers and ranchers, that means the very animal husbandry practices required to produce meat, dairy, and other agricultural products could become legally vulnerable, threatening their ability to operate and sell their products, and stores would rely solely on imported products from other states, or even other countries. For licensed pest control professionals, such as me and my colleagues, it creates uncertainty around the essential work we do every day to protect homes, businesses, food facilities, and public health. Controlling rodent populations through trapping or other methods of control would be illegal.

These industries already operate under strict state and federal regulations. IP28 doesn’t improve oversight, it risks dismantling the legal framework that allows responsible professionals to do their jobs safely and lawfully.

This initiative would not just impact large corporations, it would directly affect small, family-owned businesses and local producers right here in our community essentially crippling them into non-existence and forcing them out of business.

I encourage everyone to read the full language of IP28, and if it goes to the ballot this November, consider voting NO to protect Oregon’s farmers, small businesses, and public health infrastructure.

We haven't had much of a winter this year. However, we want to remind folks of our no-service policy- events that prevent us from coming to do our job. Such events may include, but are not limited to- flooding (biblical or other), snow, heavy ice build up, downed trees or power lines in service area, highway or road closures, and rapture or other acts of God,

In the event of such events, we will make every attempt to come and perform scheduled services. If we feel that conditions are unsafe, we will reach out to all clients and notify them that their service needs to be moved to the next available day.
