Where are all my artists and crafters? 🎨✨

We have a bunch of project gourds cured and ready for their next creative adventure….just $3 each!

These gourds can be transformed into birdhouses, ornaments, bowls, planters, holiday décor, painted art pieces, handbags, and so much more. The possibilities are nearly endless! I’ve even seen them made into lamps!! If you need inspiration, hop on Pinterest and prepare to fall down a wonderfully creative rabbit hole. 😊

This would make a fun and affordable summer project for both kids and adults.

PM me to schedule a pickup!

It’s kinda crazy to think this is what Kindred Acres started like just 8 years ago. I’m going to gather up my progress pictures and do an “in the making” slide show. lol. It took a LOT of hard work, dedication, and grit to get to where it is today. And we aren’t even finished yet….

Awww… look who I found while grabbing a load of wood chips! 🥹😍

I accidentally uncovered this sweet little guy while working, so I carefully moved him to a safer spot away from all the activity and set him free. One of the things I love most about working with nature is all the incredible creatures you get to meet along the way.

Just look at him… what an absolute beauty! ❤️😍

Every creature has a role to play in the ecosystem, and moments like these are a good reminder that we share this land with countless other living beings. I’m grateful for the chance to cross paths with them and do my best to work alongside nature rather than against it. 💚

The market garden is still a bit of a work in progress and definitely needs some tidying up, but it’s coming along beautifully! 🌱💚

As for the hodgepodge garden… I’ve been putting in some work there too, and I’m pretty excited about the direction it’s heading. There are some intentional changes happening behind the scenes that I’m not quite ready to share yet, but trust me—more on that soon! 😍

And perhaps the most exciting update of all… a new pond will be going in before long! Water is life, and adding another water feature to the homestead is going to create even more opportunities for wildlife, biodiversity, and ecosystem health.

Every season brings a new project, a new lesson, and a new reason to be grateful for this little piece of land. Watching it evolve is one of my favorite parts of the journey. 💚🌱

Come take a stroll down one of the quieter pathways with me… 🌿✨

Lining the path are several varieties of Jerusalem artichokes and an absolutely beautiful display of ground cherries. It’s shaping up to be an incredible year for them! They’re growing abundantly, looking happy, healthy, and ready to produce more than we can eat. 😍

This pathway has gotten a little overgrown lately since we don’t travel it as often, and it’s definitely due for a fresh layer of wood chips. But honestly, I still think there’s something magical about it. Nature has a way of softening the edges and reminding us that perfection isn’t the goal.

Did you spot the gorgeous stand of Sochan? One of my favorite native edible plants! And those apples… just look at them! Every time I walk through here, I find something new to admire and appreciate.

Moments like these remind me why I love growing food in partnership with nature. The abundance, the beauty, the biodiversity… it’s all part of the magic. 💚🌱🍎

From the hazelnut grove to the blackberry patch… 🌿🖤

This is one of our larger thornless blackberry patches, and wow is it putting on a show this year! The canes are absolutely loaded with berries, and if this is any indication of what’s to come, we’re going to have a whole lot of blackberry picking in our future. 😍

One of the things I love most about designing a food-producing landscape is creating abundance in layers. As you move across the property, there’s always something growing, flowering, fruiting, or feeding both people and wildlife.

While this particular patch is thornless, we also have plenty of thorned blackberries scattered throughout the homestead. Together they’re providing an incredible harvest while offering food and habitat for pollinators, birds, and countless other beneficial creatures.

It’s shaping up to be a beautiful and berry-filled season, and I’m not complaining one bit! 💚🫐✨

(And yes… I’ll probably eat half of them before they ever make it into the house. 😂)

The Hazelnut grove. I love shady pathways like this. It makes you want to wander down them to see what’s out there! Haha!

It looks like it’s going to be a good hazelnut year! Look at all those nuts! Fully loaded! Yay!

Enter the pawpaw grove with me… 😍

I absolutely love how this little corner of the homestead feels like stepping into a jungle. The air is cooler, the sounds are softer, and somehow it even smells different back here. There’s a sense of peace that settles over you the moment you walk beneath the canopy.

I’ve been working outside all day and I’m a hot, sweaty mess, but I figured I’d brave the camera anyway so you could get a better sense of the size and depth of these trees. What started as just a couple of pawpaws has slowly grown into its own little ecosystem, and I can’t help but smile every time I walk through it.

Nature is pretty amazing when we give it the chance to do what it does best. ❤️😍
