At Home Love Construction we help homeowners design and build beautiful homes!

THIS is what high-end design is really about. 👀🏠

It’s easy to look at a beautiful home and immediately focus on the finishes.

But Brad points out that high-end design goes beyond what materials you pick.

It’s the layout.

The little details.

How one space connects to the next.

And how all of those decisions come together to create a home that feels cohesive and distinctive over time.

And then there’s this layout. 😂

Dryer above the toilet.

Which creates a level of convenience we’re not sure anyone specifically requested…

But hear Brad out.

You can sit on the toilet.

Pull your clothes down from the dryer overhead.

Then use the fold-down table to fold everything.

You may have questions.

Brad has shown you the possibilities. 😂

High-end design can be beautiful, but sometimes it’s the unique layout choices that really make you stop and look twice.

He’s not COMPLETELY wrong, but we can definitely tighten this up. 😂

First thing Brad notices?

That gap. 👀

He says the installer isn't entirely wrong here, but that gap could probably be made smaller.

Then there’s something else Brad isn’t seeing:

Where’s the thin-set?

And we’re not finished with the shower niche yet either.

The HardieBacker still needs to go inside the niche.

But Brad has a suggestion for how he’d handle the tile placement from here.

Make sure the tile sits flat along the front edge of the niche, where you’re actually going to notice it.

Then, if you end up with any of those unusual or “weird” cuts, put them toward the back against the straight wall where they won’t be noticeable.

Basically:

Nice and flat where everybody sees it.
Weird stuff goes to the back. 😂

And after reviewing the situation, Brad leaves us with one final observation:

“Tile guys always crying.” 😂

Tile guys, the comment section is officially yours. 👇

That is NOT string cheese. 😭⚡😂

You know the trend.

Everything looks innocent enough.

The guy thinks he’s about to take a bite of string cheese…

Except it’s actually a live wire.

And then we cut to him dreaming before he appears “dead on the ground.” 😂

Brad’s reaction pretty much says everything:

This is funny as hell.

No construction lesson today.

No deep analysis.

Just someone confusing electrical wire with a snack and immediately discovering that was a TERRIBLE menu choice. 😂

Forbidden string cheese. ⚡🧀

Sometimes construction content teaches you something.

Sometimes it’s just there to make Brad lose it.

Your water heater has a temperature dial, and yes, you ARE allowed to touch it. 😂🚿

This is an electric tankless water heater, and Brad points out one easy way to identify that it’s electric:

See that conduit?

That’s carrying the electrical line powering the unit.

You can also see where the water lines come into and out of the heater.

But Brad really likes where this particular unit is located:

Inside the house. 👏

That means if you want to adjust the temperature, you don't have to make a trip out to the garage.

Just walk over to the unit and use the dial to turn the water temperature up or down depending on what you need.

This one was already set to 120 degrees, and Brad leaves it right there.

There’s even a visual guide on the unit showing recommended temperature ranges for things like washing your hands, taking a shower, and washing dishes.

So apparently the water heater comes with instructions for anyone standing in front of it thinking:

“Okay… but how hot do I actually want this? 😂”

Tiny plumbing part, VERY important job. 😂🚿

During the rough-in phase of a shower installation, you might see this little stopper screwed into the brass receptacle valve where the shower head will eventually go.

And yes, it’s supposed to be there.

Its job is pretty straightforward:

Keep water from spraying all over the bathroom if somebody turns the water on. 💦😂

With the stopper installed, someone can adjust or interact with the shower valve without water suddenly coming out.

It also helps when the tile installers arrive.

They can drill the correct holes and install their materials around the area where the shower head will eventually be installed.

Then, once everything is ready?

The temporary stopper comes out and the actual shower head screws into that same brass receptacle.

Temporary job.

Permanent appreciation for not accidentally turning the bathroom into a splash zone. 😂

Okay, who put a random hole in my ceiling? 😂👀

There’s a hole in the drywall on this job site, and at first glance, there’s no obvious explanation for why it’s there.

But Brad has a pretty good guess.

The electrical panel is right outside this area, so he suspects the opening was made so the crew could fish wires down into the panel.

And there were a LOT of wires to run on this project.

This house had flooded, which required a full house rewire.

So that mysterious ceiling hole likely helped the crew get those new wires where they needed to go.

Now?

Its job is done.

Which means it has officially entered the next phase of its life:

Drywall patch. 😂

Sometimes during a renovation, you have to make a hole to get the work done.

And then somebody else gets the privilege of making that hole disappear.

Wait… what are we crying about?! 😂

At first, Brad notices something interesting:

She didn’t break the drywall.

So naturally he’s wondering if she was actually trying to save it.

But then the video keeps going…

She’s upset.

Brad’s confused.

“What’s the problem?”

Still crying.

“Wait… WHY is she crying?” 😂

Then Brad finally notices what appears to be the big issue:

There’s a gap between the countertop and the wall.

And Brad is basically sitting there thinking…

That’s it?!

He explains that when you’re installing a stone backsplash, the countertop doesn’t necessarily need to sit perfectly flush against the wall because the backsplash is going to cover that area.

Could you get it perfectly flush?

Sure.

But according to Brad, it’s not strictly necessary in this situation.

Which brings him right back to his original question:

Why are we crying?! 😂

Brad’s final assessment?

This feels a little less like a countertop emergency and a little more like somebody being dramatic for the video.

The countertop may have a gap.

The drama has absolutely none. 😂

Okay, the sledgehammer technique is looking a LITTLE sus. 😂🔨

At first, Brad is trying to figure out exactly what’s happening here.

Because the way she’s using that sledgehammer?

“Potentially sus.” 👀

But she keeps going.

And Brad has to admit…

She’s getting there. 😂

Then there’s another important distinction Brad feels compelled to make:

She’s conservatively dressed.

So no.

According to Brad, this does NOT qualify as thirst construction. 😂

We’re just watching somebody work with a sledgehammer in a way that has Brad increasingly suspicious about the entire video.

And then comes his final verdict:

“Fake.”

Welp.

Case closed. 😂

Did you think it was real when you first watched it? 👇

NOPE. You’re gonna need a longer piece. 😂📏

There’s a specific rule here:

That material needs to extend ALL the way across the room.

And this piece?

It just doesn’t have enough slack.

Brad’s instruction is pretty straightforward:

Leave more length.

Use a longer piece and make sure you have enough material to get all the way across.

But then comes the part that really starts bothering him…

What happens to the piece you already cut? 😬

If there isn’t another place where that cut-off section can be used, Brad points out that you could be looking at a significant amount of wasted material.

And nothing makes a contractor stare into the distance quite like perfectly good material headed toward the waste pile. 😂

Measure it.

Leave yourself the extra length.

And hopefully avoid the moment where everybody looks at the cut piece and asks:

“Soooo… can we use this anywhere else?” 👀
