Most people probably think a flower farm starts in the spring, when everything starts turning green and the flowers go in the ground. 🌸

But in reality, spring flowers start now.

They start when it’s 104° outside and I’m pulling weeds, clearing beds, adding amendments, and getting the soil ready for a season that still feels forever away. All while keeping the summer blooms going 🤪

Meanwhile, inside, trays of tiny seedlings are already growing. 🌱 Those little plants will eventually head outside this fall, with many going into the ground around November. They’ll be covered and protected through the winter so they can spend months building strong roots before spring ever arrives.

The goal? Taller plants, stronger stems, and earlier spring blooms.

So while the flower farm may not look like much right now… next spring’s flowers are already in the works. 💐

Flower farming is definitely a lesson in planning ahead: and apparently sweating your butt off in August for flowers you won’t cut until April. 😂

Sunday is bouquet making day! 🌸✨

One of the beautiful things about growing flowers is learning to follow the seasons.

As summer settles in, we’re saying goodbye to some of our spring favorites. The snapdragons have given us months of color and beauty, but their season is winding down, making room for the next wave of blooms.

Now the zinnias are stepping into the spotlight! These hardworking flowers thrive in the Texas heat and are filling the garden with vibrant color every day. 🌸

The sunflowers are still taking their sweet time, but we can see them growing and know they’ll be worth the wait. 🌻 In the meantime, we’re enjoying all the new blooms emerging across the garden while appreciating the flowers that carried us through spring.

Every week brings something new, and that’s part of the magic of growing seasonal flowers. Thank you for following along with us as the garden changes and grows. 💐

The flower field is producing more blooms each week, so I’m opening a limited number of Thursday delivery spots.

Enjoy fresh, locally grown flowers delivered to your home or office in Cleburne each week. Bouquets are harvested fresh from the field and arranged just before delivery for the longest vase life possible.
