❌ MYTH: Pool stains mean you need an acid wash.

✅ FACT: An acid wash isn't always the answer.

Remember our recent post about not every discoloration being algae? Well, sometimes it is algae! 😅

The dark spots in this pool were black algae, and those white marks you can see are from treating the affected areas directly with a chlorine tablet.

No draining. No acid wash. Just the appropriate treatment for what was actually going on. 💦

🚚 Ride Along 💦

Alan traded his usual route for the passenger seat today and spent the day riding along with Joan!

These ride-along days give us a chance to work side by side, share knowledge, talk through different pools and equipment, and keep building consistency across our team.

🧪 Pool Science: Metal Staining

Not every spot or discoloration you see in a pool is algae. 👀

While algae is often the first thing that comes to mind when a pool surface changes color, metals such as iron and copper can also cause staining or discoloration.

Metals can make their way into pool water from a number of sources, including source water, pool equipment and some pool chemicals.

Identifying what you're actually dealing with matters, because treating a metal stain like algae isn't going to solve the underlying problem.

Right diagnosis. Right solution. 🧪💦

🔧 Tool Talk: What's a Skimmer Sock?

You may have spotted one of these inside your skimmer basket and wondered what it's doing there. 👀

Think of a skimmer sock as an extra layer of filtration. It catches finer debris that can pass through the holes in a regular skimmer basket—including pollen, tiny insects and one of the big reasons we use them: dog hair! 🐶🐾

Skimmer socks can fill up quickly, so they need to be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced when needed.

Small, simple, but definitely useful in the right pool! 💙💦
