It's been a while since the last post, but that's only because it's been a big year with lots of awesome projects in the works!

Several urban native yard conversions were completed this spring/summer, we checked on 2nd year growth at sites from '24, and we have some serious multi-acre native prairie restorations kicking off this fall.

Call the number in our profile or DM us if you're interested in getting on our schedule for 2026 meadow and prairie establishment. All of our plans include maintenance for the first 2-3 growing seasons while the new habitat matures and starts to hit its stride.

Sites that are ideal for native habitat restoration:
• Large, idle, unused expanses of turf grass around businesses, churches, schools, and municipal buildings (tell your CEO/Pastor/Principal/City official you'd like to see this!)
• Fallow agricultural fields and pastures
• Small pockets or full lawns near homes to create micro-habitat
• Drainage swales in neighborhoods and developments where slowing water runoff into storm systems is beneficial.

I have the opportunity to work with once again as Antonio is implementing a forestry management plan on a property dedicated to forestry and wildlife research.

The project includes bulk removal and treatment of at least 7 woody or viny invasive species:

•Honeysuckle
•Autumn Olive
•Multiflora Rose
•Privet
•Glossy Buckthorn
•Oriental Bittersweet
•Grapevine, and more.

The plan also includes the planting of roughly 3,000 bareroot saplings of varying species, most of which will receive tree cages to protect them from wildlife as they establish themselves.

Call us if you're interested in restoring your wooded areas by removing aggressive and invasive species, and replacing them with native vegetation that benefits our local wildlife and pollinators.

This landscape water feature was a massive project completed in late 2024! A series of small waterfalls feed through a 35' stream bed to the 16'×22' main pond. Featuring over 20 tons of boulders, stones, and gravel, this pond has an underwater landscape any small fish would love. These clients have decided to put goldfish in it in spring of 2025, although it is large enough to sustain a nice population of larger koi if they choose! With a variable-speed pump in the debris-catching skimmer basin, these clients can enjoy a light trickling stream or a fuller flow with splashing falls.

The pond is constructed with an emergency overflow to control water levels during heavy rain events. This particular overflow was designed to feed into a rain garden (masterfully designed by ) which is populated with native plants that love water and are designed to help water return into the soil naturally, rather than funneling overflows into a stormwater or sewer system.

Ohio Fishing, Wildlife, and Recreational Pond Excavation

We punched this pond into the ground in Chesterland, Ohio in October 2023, and it is nearly full! The property owners will be stocking the pond with perch and bluegill this spring, before deciding if they will add bass at a later date. We installed a beach with non-silica sand to allow for a wading area at safe depth for the kids, while also installing log and rock piles in deeper areas for fish habitat. Each pond build comes with a consultation for the vegetation around the pond to ensure the highest water quality while prioritizing a net-positive wildlife impact on the area where the pond is installed.

*THE STAIRS*

This set of trail steps was installed on a slick clay and shale slope that leads down to a creekbottom on a property owned by City of Columbus Schools. This is a secluded property where students can get away from town on field trips and immerse themselves in nature that might otherwise be tough to find at home.

This particular project was admittedly outside of the comfort zone, but thats how we grow! The scale of this project was a lot to take on with but we hit it hard and ended up with some very satisfied clients after it was said and done. Final pics with the hand rail installed are available on the page.

These steps should limit future erosion and make accessing the creek area safer for students and staff alike.
