Turn your cracked and boring entrance into a high value garden path that stays beautiful all year without much work at all.

You probably struggle with w**ds growing through concrete cracks and a flat lawn that looks dull against your house. A straight path is actually less inviting and makes your yard feel smaller than it really is. Replacing old concrete with stone and deep flower beds fixes drainage issues and stops you from having to mow difficult tight corners.

Your home will look much more expensive and feel like a private park every time you walk to the front door. These layers of plants act as a natural fence to give you privacy from the street without building a wall. You also get to enjoy amazing smells from the flowers and see colorful butterflies right outside your window.

Start by marking a new curved path with a garden hose to see where the turns feel natural. Break up your old concrete with a heavy hammer and dig down six inches so you can lay a thick base of crushed gravel. Level the gravel with a rake and tamp it down hard before placing large pieces of irregular flagstone on top like a giant puzzle. Fill the spaces between the stones with stone dust or sand to lock everything together so they never wiggle.

Dig out large garden beds on both sides of the path and mix in bags of dark compost to feed the new plants. Place a Japanese Maple tree on the left side to add height and a focal point that changes color in the fall. Surround the tree with Walker Low Catmint for purple flowers and White Meidiland Roses for a classic look that lasts all summer. Add some Pink Foxgloves for height in the back and fountain grass to create movement when the wind blows.

Use a professional grade landscape fabric under your stone path to keep every single w**d from poking through the joints. Choose natural flagstone with a rough texture so the path stays safe and easy to walk on even when it is raining. You should trim your roses back by half in the early spring to make sure they grow back thicker and produce twice as many flowers for the new season.
