How did The Christmas Table event come about?

The Christmas Table event idea came about in late December 2022 when two local couples chatted together next to a roaring fire in a cozy living room. The subject came up of how lonely Christmas could be when someone didn't have family or close friends to share it with, and also how hard the holidays could be for families who didn't have the means to do a big holiday dinner as well as gifts for the kids. Recognizing the need they saw in their own lives and in the community around them, they asked what could be done and resolved to do what they could to help. The idea grew into an event, and Cloverdale's community, schools, local charities, businesses, and local churches jumped in to volunteer and donate. The first Christmas Table event was held at the Cloverdale High School gym Dec 25, 2023.

The goal and desire of all involved is to provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, great food, and a fun time for all who would like to attend, and so that no one spends Christmas alone. We hope that you will join us this year, in a new venue, generously donated for our use, at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair in the Main Auditorium from 4:30-6:30pm.

If you have a desire to volunteer your time with us, either before or on Christmas day, please contact us to ask where we have a need. We appreciate the help so much! We also have donation opportunites available, either of goods for the free raffle, or monetary donation for the running of operations and cost of food.

We are so grateful to partner with the amazing community in Cloverdale, and look forward to many years of Christmas Table to come!

I was proud to be a part of this milestone!

Today marked a major milestone for water management in Northern California. Leaders from across the region, including Senate President Mike McGuire, Congressman Congressman Jared Huffman, Maureen "Mo" Mulheren - Mendocino Second District Supervisor and Sonoma County Supervisor James Gore gathered at Lake Mendocino to celebrate the updated Water Control Manual now incorporating Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO).

FIRO uses advanced weather forecasting to guide water storage decisions, helping communities and ecosystems adapt to changing conditions. The update allows operators at Lake Mendocino to store about 20 percent more water during dry seasons—enough to supply roughly 22,000 homes for a year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cloverdale Police Department:
Arrest Made in Ongoing Sexual Assault Investigation

Cloverdale, CA – August 26, 2025 – In December 2024, the Cloverdale Police Department received a report of the possible sexual assault of a female minor. Cloverdale Police immediately launched a thorough investigation into the allegations.

Over the course of the following several months, investigators conducted forensic interviews, interviewed multiple witnesses, and collected and processed evidence. Based on these efforts, there was sufficient developed probable cause to seek an arrest warrant. On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the lead investigating officer obtained an arrest warrant for the arrest of Jose Maria Farías Farías, age 57, Cloverdale.

On August 22, 2025, with assistance from allied agencies, including the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, Mr. Farias Farias was tracked and located utilizing the Flock Safety camera system and arrested in the City of Sunnyvale. He was taken into custody without incident on suspicion of violating California Penal Code 288(a) – Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14.

Cloverdale Police coordinated to take custody of Mr. Farias Farias, and did so on August 25th. Mr. Farías Farías was then transported and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

The Cloverdale Police Department extends its gratitude to the Palo Alto Police Department, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance in locating and apprehending Mr. Farías Farías.

The Cloverdale Police Department remains committed to public safety.

Please read this and pay attention. Lake Pillsbury was not filled, and now FERC has given permission to lower minimum flows. This will destroy all local crops, and will allow the Russian River to go dry.
No matter how high you raise Coyote Dam, there will not be enough water to fill and maintain Lake Mendocino with the current status of the Two-basin water agreement. And, under said agreement, the diversion rights can be taken away if they feel the Eel River is not sufficient……

Residents blame dam politics as power company depletes Lake Pillsbury before harvest, with fire season looming.
