Sometimes, the smallest houses hold the biggest dreams. 🏠💐

Recently, New River Electrical (NRE) employees in Granville, Ohio partnered with Habitat for Humanity - MidOhio’s Playhouse Program to build and decorate two custom playhouses for local children.

The most memorable moment came when the girls saw their playhouses for the first time. Watching them explore every detail of their new spaces was a reminder that some of the most meaningful projects aren't always the biggest ones. They're the ones that leave a lasting impact.

Throughout the day, volunteers assembled the playhouses, touched up paint, decorated the interiors, and added thoughtful finishing touches inspired by the girls' interests and personalities.

For two girls who love flowers and gardening, NRE volunteers helped bring those interests to life with colorful décor, books, LEGO sets, themed activities, and even a potting station.

Habitat's Playhouse Program connects volunteers with local families to create safe places for children to play, learn, and dream while supporting affordable homeownership opportunities throughout Central Ohio.

As an employee-owned company, we take pride in making a difference where we live and work. Projects like this reflect what ownership means to us: coming together to support our communities and using our time and talents to serve others.

The dream of homeownership came one step closer to becoming a reality for a family of four, a single mother and her three sons, during a Habitat for Humanity - MidOhio groundbreaking ceremony in Newark, Ohio, last week.

Nicole Rosario, our Director of Marketing and Communications, had the honor of sharing words of congratulations and support on behalf of New River Electrical (NRE) as the family took this exciting first step toward building a place to call home.

The ceremony was attended by local leaders from the City of Newark, The Energy Cooperative, Licking Memorial Health Systems, the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH), and Park National Bank, whose partnerships help support Habitat for Humanity's homeownership program and help make homeownership possible for local families.

As an employee-owned company, NRE understands the power of ownership. It represents more than a house—it creates stability, builds pride, and opens doors to new opportunities for families and future generations.

Habitat homeowners work incredibly hard to earn this opportunity. Over the course of 12–18 months, participants invest 200–250 hours helping with construction, attending financial education and homeownership classes, and contributing to the Habitat community. They must also demonstrate the ability to successfully manage and afford a monthly mortgage, helping ensure they are prepared for the responsibilities of long-term homeownership. Their dedication is an inspiring reminder that homeownership is a partnership built on commitment, perseverance, and preparation.

Once construction is complete, the family will move into their 1,456-square-foot, four-bedroom, two-bathroom home.

This home marks the third Habitat house in the immediate neighborhood and the first of three homes planned for this lot, helping strengthen the local community one family at a time.

NRE is proud to support Habitat for Humanity's mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership, and grateful to play a small role in this family's journey.
