I wrote this yesterday…posting it today:
I stayed at the hospital with Gregory last night. This morning Cindi and Gregory had a video call set up with his daughter Missy. When they called her Gregory had a smile on his face that melted my heart. It’s obvious that he loves his daughter so much. It’s probably very frustrating for him not to be able to communicate with her like he once did. When someone is ill it’s frustrating for the whole family. It’s frustrating for the patient because he can’t do things like he used to. It’s frustrating that communication levels breakdown between family who, obviously, at one time had close contact with each other. It’s frustrating for the doctors and nurses who are in the medical field because they want to help people. But, unfortunately, sometimes they’re not able to help them get better. Gregory is now on Hospice care.
I think we all do the best we can whenever illness sets upon a member of our family or a friend. We all find different ways to cope. Be there for your family and friends when they have somebody who’s sick. It hurts everyone involved. Just a kind word or a quick text that says ‘I’m thinking of you’ helps. We’re all human beings. Everybody’s got a heart that hurts, that loves, that has needs. I hope your heart is not hurting today because it doesn’t feel good.
