Jobsite looks a little different today! We’ve actually had a winter this year! is loving it… but I’m over it!

Anyway, we’re putting the new skid loader to the test today. We bought this machine back in the fall and haven’t really had a chance to put it to work. I’ve played with it some, but still learning it. Normally I have to use our tractor and drive backwards with the snowblower to plow snow. So this little machine has been a game changer.

We chose this machine for a few reasons, but the number one reason was the telescoping arm which makes it kind of a hybrid between a telehandler and a skid loader.

Drop a comment below if you’d like to see me do a full review and test of it and how it works for a construction company.

This is one that never got posted. Three car garage and workshop with storage on the second floor. It was a pretty quick and easy build. And we know those don’t come often! I was just back there to pour a sidewalk and concrete apron in front of it. Customer has pretty much moved everything into it and is putting it to good use!

The calm before the storm! Quite literally this week. It’s rare in this business that we aren’t racing the weather. Unlike new construction, we’re always opening up, tying in and trying to enclose before a storm from comes in. Great progress on our build yesterday though. The truss truck followed me into the jobsite and we had the main trusses set by 8 am. Then onto cricket roof framing, sheathing and fascia. We will have all the shingles on today and the house wrap completed by the days end. Most of the east coast is getting hammered tonight into tomorrow with remains of a hurricane so we have to do everything possible to have it watertight today.

Man! We do so many projects that after a while they all start to blend together. Took a little trip down memory lane aka my camera roll…. Looking back, it’s hard to believe this was almost 6 years ago that we did this one. It’s a pretty drastic before and after project!

For the love of the craft. That’s why I got into this business and why I started to love woodworking at a younger age. As I’ve gotten older, the stress of life and running the business sometimes clouds the reasons why I really do love it. I had the opportunity recently to build a sign for our motocross club. This wasn’t a paid job, it wasn’t even really a job at all. I wasn’t asked to do it, but I wanted to. I knew I wanted to create something cool that fit with the aesthetic of the property. There was no plans or drawings, just me playing with barnwood! It didn’t take long to do, but it was exactly what I needed as quick reset and refocus. Huge shoutout to for help with the router for that incredible logo.

Here’s a little self proclaimed “welcome back” or reintroduction!  For a few years my instagram page was hopping! It was fun and new and exciting to share the day to day stuff with you as a small business owner in SE Pennsylvania.  I’m not entirely sure why, but as time went on I got bored of posting and it seemed like a hassle.  I was becoming slightly burnt out of the pressure of always coming up with new and interesting content, and running a business on top of it. I pretty much stepped away from all social media, but our work continued and we had some seriously cool projects happen in that time. A new custom house, lots of renovations, and even more additions.

We also had a daughter which has never made her IG debut on this account until now.

I’m going to start posting again and doing some backlog content pictures as well as the current stuff we have.  Stay tuned and let me know what you want to see!

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted… but we’ve been crazy busy. I’m going to be doing a lot more on here coming up. We’re starting a very nice custom home with all kinds of cool aspects and details. This a picture of our progress on it so far. We’re in the final prep stages and our foundation goes in next week!

We finished up the exterior of the door project today. We wrapped it with custom sized white oak hand hewn beams. We milled them down and ran them through a brushing machine to clean them up, but still leave the patina. There is still some interior work to be done, but the exterior is a wrap for now.

This was a first for me! I’ve installed hundreds of doors, but I have never built one fully from scratch. When my customers first approached me with the idea, I was excited, but apprehensive. This is essentially a piece of wooden furniture that will see the brunt of the element. It took a lot of careful planning and ex*****on to get to this point. We had to build it to be able to withstand and try to eliminate as much seasonal movement as possible. It’s all reclaimed character white oak material. All the checks, knots and holes were epoxy filled and stabilized. After we had the materials prepared, we milled every single piece and built all of it, threshold, jambs and panels. We custom ordered glass because this door is wider than a standard door. The main swinging door is 38” wide and a massive 2 1/4” thick. It’s got a satisfying thunk when it closes! We finished it with four coats of Tung oil to give it a soft matte glow. We will be custom building a rustic surround to finish the space off.

Wrapped up our timber frame barn entry project today. It’s hard to capture the true size of the timbers and the overall stance of the project. Overall I’m happy with the scale of it and it’s adds quite a bit of curb appeal to the front of this old barn.
