Victory Memorial Drive is more than a roadway. It is a place of remembrance for 568 Hennepin County service members and nurses who lost their lives in World War I.
As visitors walk through the tree-lined Grand Rounds corridor in Minneapolis, every detail is designed to encourage reflection and honor those who served.

Lake Superior Green® granite is integrated throughout the plaza, seating, and gateways, grounding the memorial in both place and permanence. Thoughtful design details, including balustrades that reveal soldier silhouettes in negative space, add layers of meaning throughout the experience.

Light and time are also part of the design, most powerfully seen on November 11th at the 11th hour, when the flagpole shadow aligns with a granite inlay marking Armistice Day.

At the University of Minnesota’s Biomedical Discovery District, the “Adjacent Possible” project transforms that character into sculptural forms rooted in geology and shaped by design. Giving back is one of the ways we strengthen the communities where we live and work.

This week, Coldspring employees are stepping away from the workplace to spend time at Cherrywood Advanced Living in Richmond, Minnesota. Together, our team is helping with projects around the property, from cleaning windows and trimming bushes to spreading mulch.

We recently attended the Cremation Association of North America CANA, Annual Convention & Exposition in Minneapolis, joining cemetery leaders, memorial professionals, and industry partners from across the country for the Cremation Innovation experience.

We were honored to welcome several conference attendees to Coldspring for a facility tour during their time in Minnesota. Guests had the opportunity to see firsthand how natural stone and bronze memorials are designed and crafted while continuing conversations about the future of cremation and meaningful memorialization. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our work, connect with industry professionals, and explore new ways to help families create lasting places of remembrance.

Our sandblast capabilities have advanced considerably, allowing us to bring customer vision to life through increasingly personalized and detailed work in stone.

This granite memorial, featuring blended white and purple Lithichrome in the wings, reflects that progress. It demonstrates how precision craftsmanship and modern sandblast techniques work together to achieve design intent with greater depth, clarity, and expression.

This year marks the first National Cremation Placement Day National Cremation Placement Day, observed on Saturday, October 17, 2026, and recognized annually on the third Saturday in October. Established by Coldspring in recognition of the 150th anniversary of cremation in America, this day encourages families to reflect on the importance of permanent placement and creating meaningful memorials for those who have passed.

We loved taking part in the annual Boni Fest Parade and celebrating the incredible community we are proud to call home. It was a great opportunity to connect with neighbors, share smiles, and enjoy the energy of the event while our team proudly represented Coldspring.
