🚨TIP OF THE DAY: DO NOT FLUSH WIPES OF ANY KIND🚨
Toilet Paper is designed to disintegrate in water. There are no chemicals or products that will reliably dissolve wipes in your toilet or septic tank.

According to an article published by The Washington Post, “Utilities say the wipes twist into ropy wads, either in a home's sewer pipe or miles down the line. They then congeal with grease and other cooking fats improperly sent down drains to form sometimes massive “fatbergs” that block pumps and clog pipes, causing sewage backing up and sending raw sewage into homes and waterways.”

𝟰𝟴 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗢𝗦 𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗬: 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝘇𝘆

𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧: Wednesday is spring-like. Temperatures in the mid-70s, breezy, elevated fire danger (seriously, don't burn anything)

𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧:Quick round of storms possible 4pm - 9pm. Most likely these happen in the Eastern & Southern Brazos Valley. Isolated storms around 5pm could be briefly severe with wind & hail the main concern. A line forms 6-7pm, storms move out 8-9pm. Most will NOT have to deal with these.

𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡: Strong cold front BLASTS the Brazos Valley this evening. Wind gusts 35-40mph possible. Temperatures drop like a rock

𝗕𝗨𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘'𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘: Biggest impact Thursday to EVERYONE: cold & blustery wind. Morning temperatures a few degrees above freezing FEEL like the low/mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s/about 40° FEELS like 30-32° at best.

𝗡𝗢𝗣𝗘, 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗘: Light mix of mainly rain / sleet (perhaps a few snowflakes) is expected to move in from the west. Timing: mid-morning to early evening. There could be a few areas where sleet accumulation is possible on grassy surfaces (up to 1/4"), but some slick spots could develop on bridges and overpasses. Main concern for those higher roads: western Brazos Valley. Surface roads are expected to be fine. A Winter Storm WATCH is in effect for Lee County.

𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚: Temperatures fall to the 20s Friday and Saturday morning. We need to protect indoor/outdoor pipes, furry friends, and the plants.

There is A LOT to keep up with and monitor these next few days. The situation can change as we watch this event unfold. More details are in the link in the comments below

We finally had our first freeze of the season/new year! Here are some plumbing tips to keep in mind and help prevent damage during these freezing temperatures:
• Allow a small amount to drip from faucets, this keeps the water moving through the pipes.
• If the pipes run through cabinets or vanities, open the doors to let warmer room temperatures flow in.
• Make sure openings such as windows and doors are properly sealed.

Stay Warm! ❄️

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! With the new year right around the corner, we have some very exciting news to share:
TEXAS HIGH SCHOOLS WILL SOON OFFER TSBPE-APPROVED CURRICULA!

In an effort to address the current shortage of well-trained, skilled and licensed plumbers in the State of Texas, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE), has approved a course outline developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that will offer high school students a direct path to the Tradesman Limited plumbing license upon graduation. Following months of research, development, and academic and agency scrutiny, the plan was unanimously approved by TSBPE Board members on November 10.

This ground-breaking opportunity for students was made possible by an amendment added to HB 636 by Representative Matt Schaefer during the 87th Legislative Session. “Turning a wrench can turn on success. Teaching plumbing to students in high school and community college is way overdue. Restoring real-world skills training to students, and giving them more options to succeed is good for all Texans. Students who complete the requirements in high school, or college will have an actual license and can make good money immediately,” said Representative Schaefer.

The new course sequence creates an additional accelerated path into the plumbing industry and facilitates faster upward mobility within the industry. “This initiative, spearheaded by Representative Schaefer, will have a huge impact to meet the pent up demand for skilled plumbers which has been created by Texas’s robust economy,” said TSBPE Chairman Frank Denton. In addition to high schools, this course of study will also be available to any institution of higher education. “The potential impact this could have on the number of skilled and licensed plumbers in Texas is huge,” said Lisa Hill, the TSBPE Executive Director, “we’ve received several inquiries from trade and career schools across Texas already and anticipate that many will adopt the program in short order.”

The plumbing industry is vital to the overall well-being of Texas’ citizens, a fact that was driven home in the aftermath of the winter storm that paralyzed Texas in mid-February 2021. As TSBPE staff worked to meet the needs of the moment, Board members and agency leadership mobilized efforts to ensure that the plumbing industry would continue to be a standout resource during future catastrophic events. This program advances that goal. “By expediting the approval of this course outline,” Ms. Hill noted, “the Board has taken great strides in its continuing effort to protect the health and safety of the people of Texas.”

This announcement was made in a joint press-release issued by the TSBPE, Texas Representative Matt Schaefer and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
