This is not our local wildlife…. But it’s a little bit of mine in my plant space in the kitchen.
This is a mourning gecko. They are native to Southeast Asia. They thrive in colonies in bioactive enclosures as long as their needs are met. The right temps, humidity, space and food. They’re actually super easy but they’re not a little gecko that you can hold. They’re tiny and quick!!
Mourning geckos are parthenogentic, a type of asexual reproduction. They are all female and basically just copy themself!!! If one does hatch as a male, it’s rare and infertile.
These little cuties also click and make funny noises in the evenings sometimes. When you have an enclosure of 10 of them it’s can be pretty entertaining!! 🦎
