I took Heidi’s Ikebana flower arranging class yesterday and I am in love with this Japanese art form! I’ve never been a huge flower filler user in my dahlia bouquets because I always was inclined to let the dahlia be the main attraction. I think I may have found a method to arrange the beloved dahlia in the simple but beautiful and artistic way. What do you think? My arrangement here has a dahlia, kangaroo paw, snapdragon, saff flower and green trick flower, which I love so much. Heidi’s downtown studio in the Trolley Building is so inspiring with classes running all year long and you can find out more below.

Oh my goodness, Strawberry Ice, one of my very favorite dahlias has bloomed!! She is always one of the latest to arrive and this year the bush is so much taller and fuller, too. In addition to the dahlias blooming, I love how my backyard is a bird sanctuary with so many feathered friends hanging out for hours with me in the peace and quiet. I get my birdseed from This Place is for the Birds so I can support a local business while getting a superior bird seed without all the fake filler you sometimes get from other stores. Birds, flowers, nature…heaven. 🥰🌳💐
