Summer is in full swing, so that means hurricane season is coming up. Make sure you have a good running sump pump, hopefully a backup and/or a replacement pump on standby. Average lifespan by manufacturers suggest a 10 years, but this suggestion depends on usage, water quality, and some other factors.

If you are unsure of the age, condition, or health of your system, feel free to give us a call and schedule an appointment. We will come take a look at what you have and help answer any questions. Spring is around the corner, which means the plans and the trees will be stretching out those roots after a long slumber. That could mean roots in the pipes, which can cause a mainline back up. It's like a freezer outside. Don't turn the thermostat off. Unfortunately our customer's heating lines ran right onto of the ply wood at the edge of where the exterior walls met in the overhang. Luckily with some patience and some good equipment, we managed to clear the ice blockage and get her heat back up and running. Stay warm out there, and if your pipes to freeze, give us a call

Crisis averted and a wallet saved!

Another day, another happy customer. Today we went to look at an older crown boiler for a customer. She had originally called another company after hearing a radio ad for a special on heating system tune-ups. The company had looked at the system and tried to sell her a whole new boiler, mentioning the system was unsafe and unpredictable. After receiving a quote for over $25,000, she called us. We inspected the system, its functions, checked the components, and cleaned the burner assembly damper. When we had finished our job, our conclusion was that although some of the parts are not installed the way a "heating specialist" would have installed them and certain components show signs of aging, her system was functioning and should carry her through another season without the need for a costly replacement. We walked away with the customer happy and our heads held high because we gave options with thorough explanations instead of suggesting a costly and unnecessary replacement.

The time change is coming up. Don't forget to check you batteries in the co and smoke detectors but also the thermostats. A simple AA OR AAA battery might be the difference between a good night's sleep and waking up to frozen toes.
